LOOK AT MY BOOBS

    With how popular gaming has become, the gaming community has also exploded like a really loud fart you'd normally hide from the rest of the world. Whether it be LANs, Tournaments, TV Shows, Web series, Machinima, and just random people on the internet recording themselves talking about popular games and/or their in-game footage. For me, this is good, and bad. It's sort of the way I feel about Goth culture becoming as mainstream as it is now. It all gets dumbed down a little bit. Why? Because it's taken a left turn onto Mainstream Avenue, where the parking is tight and you gotta get in SOMEHOW, right? So in order to attract the mainstream residents, there's a little bit of tweaking that occurs. Little bit of humoring the would-be newer target audiences, amirite? (I totally am.)

 Tweaking like.. big hair and guys wearing chick's skinny jeans, retarded bracelets and Billy Holly glasses you don't really need, but wear anyway because being a 'nerd' is soooo cool. Trust me, you're an atrocious walking insult to all tech support people everywhere. My tech support roommate looks nothing like that, btw. So... yeah. Fuck you and your stupid Star Wars t-shirt that says something on it you don't understand the reference of.

ANYWAY
So as all this popularity grows, I've noticed the the girl gamer movement is now stronger than ever before. And at first, I was all hey that's kind of neat. I can stop pretending to be a dude now and like... it won't be annoying. Or something. However it's gone down the road that I was hoping it wouldn't. You could probably guess.... it's not that hard... (that's what she said.)

It's been tremendously glorified and sexualized to the point where I'm like .. ew. K, guess I'll keep pretending to be a dude, thanks... ladies.

I am aware the female form was designed to attract but C'MON. It's pixels here!! And we're just slutting gaming up and down like rampant Nazis. Seriously now... it's kind of gross. I took pride in the fact that I wasn't just some smut that threw the word "gamer" around w/ my vagina for bragging rights. But now it's just like.. ew. Stop ruining that for the rest of us that have some dignity left in their hobby plx. It's sooooo overdone. This whole 'girl gamer' thing.

Hurh. Guess what. I used to work at EB Games. AND Game Stop. OMGGGGG NO WAAAAII. Ya totally. Way fucking before this shit blew up. HOKAY? Way before that 1337 Lauren douchebag pissed all over my hobby and lifestyle and turned it into a frickin BOOBS AND SEX ... thingie.

So... in order to get this off my chest, I decided to interview a gamer. Because I feel that real hardcore gamers that have been doing this since they were teeny tiny, and never flaunted it, aren't being appreciated enough. Just because you have boobs and a vagina and picked up a controller AND SUDDENLY BECAME ATTRACTIVE doesn't mean shit. Probably never been to a LAN in yo LYFE, SON. Probably didn't even know you could totally gank someone off the EXIT sign in _office w/ a KNIFE, SON. CHECK IT. Probably don't even know how to RUSH a mfker, SON. gfto of here.

And now, some appreciation to a typical, average gamer who is one because that's just what he enjoys. And why I like him so much.

when did you realize you were a gamer?
When you told me I was one! Just kidding, prob when I would fake being sick so i could stay home and play my NES.

how do you feel about the glorification of female gamers?
Sex sells I suppose but I think I like gaming more before it started getting such strong media publicity.

what does "gamer" mean to you?
A gamer is pretty much always playing some game or another. Like people who read, they go from one book to the next. It's a daily lifestyle.

what gaming platform do you like most and why?
PC, though I miss the days of NES SNES and PS1, PCs offer the best RPGs usually and now MMOs.

what was your very first happy memory involving a video game?
I remember playing asteroids on my Atari 2600 when it was brand spankin new!

is being a gamer something you can become or do you think it's just something you are naturally fond of growing up?
I was fortunate while growing up to have acquired the major gaming consoles as they came out. Others may not have had access or interest, though I think in today's age most people have at least tried a game at some point in their childhood. For me I was hooked from an early age he he.

there are table top gamers, LARPers, and video game fanatics. do you think the term "gamer" has changed in meaning?
It's broader now and can refer to all those. I think mostly it means video gamers.

gaming is obviously a part of your life, what if your significant other wasn't into your hobby?
That prob wouldn't work out ha ha. People don't accept it as a legitimate hobby, it's treated as juvenile.

how do you feel about 'gaming' becoming as mainstream as it is?
It's had a negative impact in my opinion. Game developers are less concerned with putting out a quality game as with how much profit they
can make. Developing games for a casual gaming audience seems priority #1 and this had dumbed down games quite a bit.

when you toured, did you ever miss any games in particular?
Yeah, I had so many online friends that I only spoke to in WOW that I missed their company. When you're in vent raiding with people often you get to know them surprisingly well!

favorite game EVER? 

I'm very fond of the Resident Evil series of games especially RE2.

I'm so glad that I took a little break. Not that I've really done anything different with my time, but it's just nice. I've been a lot happier all-together since the beginning of the week. I finally got transferred to another department at my work. Not the one I was originally supposed to be transferred into, but it's so much better for me. I'm not stressed anymore. It feels like I can finally relax. Something that's been severely overdue for a long time now. :) HOORAY!

Guardian Angel

I'm convinced that I am not someone who is consumed by bad luck all the time. It's actually just most of the time.

In my dry spell between MMOs, I've sulked and bought stupid shit like a phone cover for my Droid, and a super ultra kawaii Animè about a little girl who's a vampire, and wears kitty ears all the time ^-^v ~ It's been making me feel better. And I don't even watch Animè...

Then the funniest shit ever happened to me....
~~ A couple weeks ago, Blizzard sent me an email w/ a code for World of Warcraft, free. I asked if anyone wanted it, and no takers. Whatever.

Then, my interest begins to dissipate AND I DON'T KNOW WHY. There's nothing out there lol. So... I'm MMO hopping one to another.
All except for WoW.
It doesn't help that I've admitted to myself that I have a crush, and this e- internetz type person guy
makes a living off of making WoW parody videos!
(I never get crushes. omfg)
So then I think... well, If I have to, then I guess I've been defeated. I'll just go back to WoW :(

So I did. and am. But it's been kinda boring because I don't have anyone to play with, and little motivation to play because
after 7 seven days... (THE RING. THERE, I RUINED IT) I can't play anymore.
But messing around is still a nice time killer. Just wish it wasn't alone =\

So there's that, and then there's the new hairstyle I saw in the WoW barber shop for the Night Elf ladies! I think I've stressed this enough but for the sake of documentation, I think that Blizzard took some inspiration for this new style from me displaying my awesome hair and dance moves on stage last year. Just sayin. It looks an awful lot like how I always style my hair for events and such. Then again, maybe it's just me.

She's got the two little tails wrapped in hair, the bangs, and fringes on the sides.
They just added that in this last patch!
The only difference is instead of having long hair strands sticking out of the buns, it's short and messy.

But it's nothing special I guess. They do that shit all the time :B. Entertaining the idea of that is fun though.

As of midnight tonight, I am no longer playing Rift.

I'm kinda sad, because I'll be MMO-less. Currently, I'm in the process of getting Guild Wars up and going, but NCSoft has some bullshit authenticating process they applied, and I don't have access to the original game, even though I have a serial key. It's stupid and complicated. Also, apparently Age of Conan went free-to-play. Cute. *giggle*

Because I'm going to be experiencing a dry spell, I bought a box set of an anime that I've been wanting to get forever. Should keep me entertained for a while. Or at least until NCSoft figures out how to make it so that I can play a game I bought.

Rot and I were acting silly and speculating on the massive joke that is how we met and how we ended up being together. Like what were the chances that we would've ended up together. It's just hilarious. But anyhow, in that, we began talking about the possibility of returning to World of Warcraft. It's difficult to talk about.

We wouldn't be returning because we want to, but because there's nothing left! Nothing of the caliber we are used to. At least until Star Wars: The Old Republic comes out. Rift is just not doing it for me. It just is lame that we don't have many choices. Reason I don't want to go back to WoW is because now that the game has become so mainstream, Blizzard is focusing on that audience more than the actual gamer audience. Mainstream being kids, casuals, families, and people new to the gaming world. So they dumbed it down a lot for it to be more "user friendly." I understand, because it's more money in their pockets, but there's a delicate balance there just got shat on. One of my fav WoW players who makes videos about the game pretty much hit the nail on the head in these videos, and ironically, this is exactly what Rot and I were talking about last night. :

None of these issues are new. That and how much PvP is coddled. But what am I going to do? :( I don't have very many choices.
I don't like the 'click to move' mechanic in Guild Wars. It's retarded to me. I need good ol' A W S D for realz. However, it's what's available to me so, beggars can't be choosers I suppose. I'm not about to dive right into WoW just yet. Because.. I don't want to, lol.

At least I have Windwaker.
