Acer

   The cutest net book ever is mine! Okay, probably not ever, but still pretty cute. I got an Acer Aspire one in burgundy and and and omg it matches my pillows and chair, and my other bed sheets. Most of yesterday, once it got here, consisted of reconfiguring and getting everything updated, bookmarked, uninstalling stupid factory shit, and deciding what exactly this little guy will be for. Which I basically wanted for writing and business/Etsy stuff. I'm not installing any games or much media on here other than photoshop.

 I'm so happy! This is my dream set up ^_^

In the middle of that I made dinner and once again impressed the shit out of my taste buds. I also finished another commission that I'm butthurt over not being able to keep for myself.

I wish I could cook for more people. It doesn't look like much but I assure you it's delicious. Rot ate the last of it :( lol

Oh oh oh oh lookit! The commission I did is a Hylian sword from The Legend of Zelda games. It came out so badass. The little details sucked to do, but it came out really great.

Those red symbols. UGH. The whole time I was making this I was watching The Angry Beavers on Netflix. Since yanno.. I'm just so damn dangerous like that.

Tomorrow... I'm not really expecting much but I'm hoping that I can go over to DnD's and finish my character. Then maybe head to Little T. That'd be stellar... I could go for some ramen and boba. Also it's always fun to introduce someone who's never seen Little Tokyo before to the places there. It's such a neat place. I mean.. it's just all shops but it's full of cute nerdy shit and sanrio EVERYWHERE. And Japanese food. So.

Thursday after work I have a photoshoot. It's in a cemetery. No laughing. It's not just a whatever thing. It's for also for a video and to help promote artists in the goth community. AND what I'll be modeling is SO CUTE. I felt like I wasn't Goth enough initially. I don't think I'm really all that Gothy period. The designer asked me if I had any colorful corsets, all like.. casual and stuff. And I thought "dayum... I suck. I SHOULD have at least one. Worst Goth ever" but I told her that 95% of my wardrobe is black. And felt bad. IF THAT'S NOT IRONIC.. then idk. I thought about that and then smiled because I felt like an idiot.

UGH I DON'T HAVE FANCY CORSETS, I'M NOT GOTH ENOUGH. I ONLY HAVE BLACK CLOTHES.

I'm sober right now. In fact I'm eating, and watching Anime. Laying on my tummy in bed. Writing. Checking my bank account and Etsy. Someone messaged me on FB who I guess.. knew of me. I have no clue who this person is. He messaged me and said

"weren't you from harrisburg a few years back?"

I said "yep"

He goes "thought so :P"

So going on that, he sends me a friend request. And I'm sitting here thinking... is this the foundation that people go on to form relationships with total strangers? Am I the only one that thinks that is... VACUOUS? Is it just me? I don't know why I see Facebook as more personal than my blog, because this is where many of my emotions are manifested in a safe, neutral form that others can find entertainment in. But like... you can see EVERYTHING someone does on Facebook. To me that comes off as incredibly invasive, even with the mild privacy settings they offer. No thank you. It also gives people a false sense of association, and who wants to be that?! Unless you're a brainless idiot.

ANYWHO, That's my facebook rant. And now I'm going to take a nap. Getting a smog check for some reason made me tired. Or maybe it's the crash from the coffee I had earlier. I could eat some grapes. mmmm grapes.

Widow

   I have these candles everywhere and I never know what to do with the lids. 

 They're bulky and stupid and wtf do you do with them while you're using the candle? NOTHING. They're glass and heavy, you can't just dump them. So.. with enough boredom, I thought of something other than burning little candles in them.









I.  - Take your lid. Just take it. Grab it and put down somewhere. Do it.

 II.  - Get some paint. Since most of the lid is transparent, use a color that matches your surface. I went with black because I'm not racist.

III.  - Paint that ugly plastic part. You can try painting the glass. I wish you all the best. What I did was just messily dab the base with 3 coats, making sure each coat dried completely or suffer the ugly consequences. Acrylic I found that 3 coats should suffice. If it doesn't, why'd you stop then?

IV.  - Grats. You now have these wonky little dishes to put tiny cluttery things in. If you're a messy painter like I am, it doesn't matter! It's the same color as your surface. I am using mine for craft findings and jewelry I wear on a regular basis so that I don't have to dig through this ugly tin can with a bunch of random crap in it.

I have more of these lying around, but I need to find something to use it for.
This mostly was due to rearranging my craft station, which led to tidying up my room all together and consolidating. Sort of.

Anywho, work sucked but I went grocery shopping on my way home and that always brings me lots and lots of joy. This time I also purchased strawberries to couple with sweetened condensed milk. If you've never had sweetened condensed milk, it's milk... but the consistency is similar to honey, and it's sweet. It says it on the label. It's delicious. I think it's used in a lot of fancy desserts. But I just dump it on strawberries. My mom would give me this as a treat. Try it! It's delish ^_^

Also... this.

Rot noticed a large spider by the steps on our way to our front door. In excitement we both bent down to take a look... when we noticed a red tummy.

It was difficult to keep my hands steady as I captured this little girl but man o man was she neat. We wanted to move her somewhere safe, but she was a little too dangerous even for us. Initially we thought she was a Black Widow. Turns out she's a Brown Widow, which apparently are quite common in southern California. Isn't she so pretty though? She looks like a dangerous predator, but her sleek shape and color also makes her look regal. She's beautiful. I hope no one freaks out and kills her :( She's just trying to survive, and will die off on her own eventually.
In my opinion, killing something simply over the fact that you cannot control your own issue with it is just so incredibly deranged and cruel. And unnecessary. If you're one of those people... next time you see a spider, can you not? It's not out to hurt you. Leave it alone. It just wants to hang out on it's web and eat insects that probably pester you more than that spider did before you realized it was even there. BOOM. Logic.

   I haven't felt like writing very much lately. But there's a lot to write about - that may have something to do with it. We'll start with what I got in the mail today.

 They're way cuter than the other dice we have.
These are for our DnD game that a few of my coworkers and I are starting. I think maybe 2 weeks ago we all got together and DnD guy went over everything with us. Some of us are completely new to game mechanics and roles in general, and I wanted to get a better understanding of things. It was fun (for me) and I think he did really well in explaining almost everything. It almost felt like a class lecture. Not gonna lie, it was kinda hot.
I used to have a crush on a friend from high school who I didn't even know I liked until he lectured me one night on physics, religion, psychology, his philosophies and space shit. He just kept going for hours, and we just sat in my basement all night. I just listened, and he lectured me. Totally unforgettable. He was also quite eloquent. If he wasn't, I don't think I would be writing about him right now.
Hey, so yeah. That's a thing.

I had brought over my 4th edition manuals to have some sort of guideline. I think it helped quite a bit. You guise I'm eating so many grapes right now. Once we were done we just all kinda hanged out and talked about what classes/race we were gonna be. I sort of downloaded something on his computer.

He wants to go over some details with me about my character. Initially, I had decided to go with a Sorcerer, but today at work we talked about the flavor she'll have and he suggested I be a Warlock based on her story. I think I'm going to go with a Half-Elf. I was actually supposed to go over there tonight to finish her with him. I guess he got distracted or forgot. I'm really excited to get started. Perhaps I should've just shown up... but that's weird, right?


O n i g i r i   -  batch # 2

Yep, I made another batch. I had to before the salmon went bad. But I wasn't going to be able to finish them all on my own, so I brought them to work for my co-workers. I took some pictures while I made them so you guise could see

Bust out dat rice. This batch I only made 2 cups. Spread it out on a flat surface. I use my rice spoon thing to 'cut' off portions of rice.

My hands were all onigiri'd up but this is what they look like. 

Nori is so good omg. First time I tried it it was surprising to me how flavorful nori is. I felt like a Pokemon eating these. The first time I ever saw one was in a Pokemon episode back in the day. They called them donuts on the show at the time XD

lol, I was like wtf kinda donut is that O_o ...

On Friday Rot and I went to Das Bunker for the Velvet Acid Christ show. We had a good time for sure. I think he was legitimately star struck for a bit. It's the first time I've seen him that giddy to meet someone. 

Good show. They played mostly stuff from previous albums. The crowd really digged that it seemed like. We also ran into Krz, who plays for DOA. Later on in the night Elena showed up in that special way she does. Really late for everything, lol. It's always good to see her. SHE'S SO THILLY I LUB HUR.

Saturday the Kitties came over. We sneaked off to go get sushi first before Rot got home from work, though :P

It would've been nice if he would go, but he doesn't like anything that isn't a burger and fries or pizza. Or my cooking. 

I suggested we go to Octopus!! I swear by that place. Sushi lovers in The Valley... go to Octopus in Burbank. Go to it. You will be blown away. The kitties said they frequent a sushi place by where they live that they walk to and said was really good. However they were also impressed and a little taken by surprise by this place too.

I got an avocado roll, a salmon roll, and the black dragon roll which is eel and avocado + whatever shit they stuff in there. 

They got 3x as much as me, lol. There was so much food! Super tasty though ^_^

 Once we stuffed ourselves stupid we came back here to be greeted by a Rot. Kristof and him stayed in the living room while Miss Bananna and I hung out in my room talking about crafties and such.

We stayed up late until they left around midnight-ish. I had work at 4 in the morning, but fortunately I took a nap earlier to compensate. I find myself doing that a lot. It fucks with my sleeping schedule like you wouldn't believe, haha.

I mailed out some charms and finished the two Dr. Who tardis charms. No more! hahaha omg. I got those done with more ease this last time around because I knew what I was doing, but still. So many details >_< lol. There's a commission piece I'm doing for someone that's gonna be really fun.. and interesting. Link's shield!

Onigiri

  I got to level 20 today. And I've run Shadowfang Keep twice now. I'm not gonna lie, it's way more challenging than I remember. However the necessity of our classes' crowd control spells is refreshing. The last time I ran anything in WoW while I was still subscribed, we would just faceroll through the dungeon like it was nothing. It became boring. People were always in a rush to get them finished, and you just stood around waiting for the Dungeon Finder to queue you in. Even though it's convenient, it negates a lot of the mmorpg values in that you have to go out and do things, lol. Challenging things, and earn your way up with skill and patience so that when you finally achieve it, it means something. Instead, they made everything easy to achieve and implemented the 'achievement' mechanism that XBox Live has so it gave people a false sense of accomplishment over mostly trivial things.

ANYWAY ... it's great to have to pay attention and work together again. I had to sheep and pay attention to my focus target. And keep him cc'd. And decurse! haha I haven't had to decurse in so long. ^_^

Today also I worked some more on my commission piece. These are special because
1. I've never made one before
2. It's a super detailed piece
3. I have to make two

I was working on them for a few hours today, took a break and then experimented with more shapes so it'd look right. I'll have them done by tomorrow. Never again, haha.

I feel so fancy sitting here. Rot made me a screwdriver. What an influence he is! lol.

Also today I went ahead and attempted to make some onigiri - or rice balls. It was fun! Messy, but fun.

It was definitely tricky at the start. I saw a tutorial on youtube a long time ago on how to make em, and they seemed simple enough but phew! If you don't have it down right, you end up with a huge mess XD. When making these, water is your best friend!

That bowl has salted water in it. The white stuff is all the rice that fell off my hands when I'd wet them again.

Man... I wish I had recorded it. Basically you have to keep your hands wet with salted water so that the rice sticks even more. You take a little ball of rice in the palm of your hand and dig a little hole that you stuff with whatever you want in it. I chose salmon. Not a lot though, or you're gonna have a bad time. Then take some more rice, a little more than what you already have in your hand, and cup it over the stuffed rice. Immediately start molding it together or you're gonna have a bad time. The shit will spill and stick everywhere. Sprinkle water, and keep your hands kinda wet.
If the rice is still warm, it'll fall apart easier, so let it cool off first before doing much. I learned this the hard way.

Wrapping them with nori was... interesting lol. I didn't know wtf I was doing so I just did it however, and as long as it wrapped it all, it worked for me. haha

Again, water. Water, water, water.
The nori is dry and flakey when it's in the package. It becomes soft and flexible, almost rubbery, when it's saturated. The rice sticks to it as soon as they touch so keep a neat work space, lol, and wrap that shit!

 They're so yummy! I had one as soon as I finished and they're really good. The nori really gives a lot of flavor. And they're great snacks! I was able to make 8 with 3 cups of rice, and I also have some left-over salmon for sandwiches and such.
Later it occurred to me that they would be so much better with avocado. Next time!
Rot and Josh didn't seem interested in trying them. Oh well. That just means more for me! ^_^

This week I may be back in Little Tokyo. DnD guy asked when we could go again, and it just so happens we have the same day off, so woohoo! More Ramen and boba for meeeee! ^_^ His equally nerdy bff just moved here from Virginia (I think?) and it calls for LT time. I'm excited, should be great fun ^_^
