Cyoot

I haven't felt like writing very much lately. But there's a lot to write about - that may have something to do with it. We'll start with what I got in the mail today.

They're way cuter than the other dice we have.
These are for our DnD game that a few of my coworkers and I are starting. I think maybe 2 weeks ago we all got together and DnD guy went over everything with us. Some of us are completely new to game mechanics and roles in general, and I wanted to get a better understanding of things. It was fun (for me) and I think he did really well in explaining almost everything. It almost felt like a class lecture. Not gonna lie, it was kinda hot.
I used to have a crush on a friend from high school who I didn't even know I liked until he lectured me one night on physics, religion, psychology, his philosophies and space shit. He just kept going for hours, and we just sat in my basement all night. I just listened, and he lectured me. Totally unforgettable. He was also quite eloquent. If he wasn't, I don't think I would be writing about him right now.
Hey, so yeah. That's a thing.

I had brought over my 4th edition manuals to have some sort of guideline. I think it helped quite a bit. You guise I'm eating so many grapes right now. Once we were done we just all kinda hanged out and talked about what classes/race we were gonna be. I sort of downloaded something on his computer.

Welcome to the nerd squad, Kaitlin.

He wants to go over some details with me about my character. Initially, I had decided to go with a Sorcerer, but today at work we talked about the flavor she'll have and he suggested I be a Warlock based on her story. I think I'm going to go with a Half-Elf. I was actually supposed to go over there tonight to finish her with him. I guess he got distracted or forgot. I'm really excited to get started. Perhaps I should've just shown up... but that's weird, right?

O n i g i r i   -  batch # 2

Yep, I made another batch. I had to before the salmon went bad. But I wasn't going to be able to finish them all on my own, so I brought them to work for my co-workers. I took some pictures while I made them so you guise could see

Bust out dat rice. This batch I only made 2 cups. Spread it out on a flat surface. I use my rice spoon thing to 'cut' off portions of rice.

My hands were all onigiri'd up but this is what they look like.

Nori is so good omg. First time I tried it it was surprising to me how flavorful nori is. I felt like a Pokemon eating these. The first time I ever saw one was in a Pokemon episode back in the day. They called them donuts on the show at the time XD

lol, I was like wtf kinda donut is that O_o ...

On Friday Rot and I went to Das Bunker for the Velvet Acid Christ show. We had a good time for sure. I think he was legitimately star struck for a bit. It's the first time I've seen him that giddy to meet someone.

Good show. They played mostly stuff from previous albums. The crowd really digged that it seemed like. We also ran into Krz, who plays for DOA. Later on in the night Elena showed up in that special way she does. Really late for everything, lol. It's always good to see her. SHE'S SO THILLY I LUB HUR.

We all have dreadlocks. looooool

 *gurgle purr* ^_^

MOOSHIE MOOSHIE MOOOSH MURMURMUR

The obligatory dreadstach photo... but with a TWIST.
UNIDREOW... wait.. what

We went with a mission, buuuut unfortunately it was a busy night so that mission had to be put aside. However... Rot got to meet someone who has influenced him much, and I can confidently say that he was actually enjoying himself. At least for the moment these were taken.

He even bought merch!

I thought about it, but they didn't have much of a selection for the ladies. Fun night ^_^

Saturday the Kitties came over. We sneaked off to go get sushi first before Rot got home from work, though :P
It would've been nice if he would go, but he doesn't like anything that isn't a burger and fries or pizza. Or my cooking.
I suggested we go to Octopus!! I swear by that place. Sushi lovers in The Valley... go to Octopus in Burbank. Go to it. You will be blown away. The kitties said they frequent a sushi place by where they live that they walk to and said was really good. However they were also impressed and a little taken by surprise by this place too.

 SO FANCY MENU OF PICTURES

 LOOKIT DAT ONE

NO DIS MINE

I got an avocado roll, a salmon roll, and the black dragon roll which is eel and avocado + whatever shit they stuff in there.
They got 3x as much as me, lol. There was so much food! Super tasty though ^_^
Once we stuffed ourselves stupid we came back here to be greeted by a Rot. Kristof and him stayed in the living room while Miss Bananna and I hung out in my room talking about crafties and such.

Here's a video I took of us a while back. She didn't know I was recording XD

She knows I posted this btw, haha. SHE SO CYOOT

We stayed up late until they left around midnight-ish. I had work at 4 in the morning, but fortunately I took a nap earlier to compensate. I find myself doing that a lot. It fucks with my sleeping schedule like you wouldn't believe, haha.

I mailed out some charms and finished the two Dr. Who tardis charms. No more! hahaha omg. I got those done with more ease this last time around because I knew what I was doing, but still. So many details >_< lol. There's a commission piece I'm doing for someone that's gonna be really fun.. and interesting. Link's shield!

http://www.heavenlyswords.com/images/P/zelda-shield.jpg

I want that, btw.
so.

I may end up replicating it if it doesn't take me forever just to do the symbols.  Also I'm crazy exited to get the stuff I ordered off Ebay.

SO ADORBS. Ebay is where I pretty much get all my clothes. And everything else ever. I'm also thinking about getting a notebook. After my graphics card of course!
TAX RETURNS YAY

I may be modeling for THE CUTEST THING EVER. I don't wanna say what it is just yet but IT'S THE CUTEST THING EVER. It's a collaboration for a give away to promote the new Gothy book to on Bat's Day. I can't waaaaiit!

Shit my grapes

Onigiri

I got to level 20 today. And I've run Shadowfang Keep twice now. I'm not gonna lie, it's way more challenging than I remember. However the necessity of our classes' crowd control spells is refreshing. The last time I ran anything in WoW while I was still subscribed, we would just faceroll through the dungeon like it was nothing. It became boring. People were always in a rush to get them finished, and you just stood around waiting for the Dungeon Finder to queue you in. Even though it's convenient, it negates a lot of the mmorpg values in that you have to go out and do things, lol. Challenging things, and earn your way up with skill and patience so that when you finally achieve it, it means something. Instead, they made everything easy to achieve and implemented the 'achievement' mechanism that XBox Live has so it gave people a false sense of accomplishment over mostly trivial things.

ANYWAY ... it's great to have to pay attention and work together again. I had to sheep and pay attention to my focus target. And keep him cc'd. And decurse! haha I haven't had to decurse in so long. ^_^

Today also I worked some more on my commission piece. These are special because
1. I've never made one before
2. It's a super detailed piece
3. I have to make two

I was working on them for a few hours today, took a break and then experimented with more shapes so it'd look right. I'll have them done by tomorrow. Never again, haha.

I feel so fancy sitting here. Rot made me a screwdriver. What an influence he is! lol.

Also today I went ahead and attempted to make some onigiri - or rice balls. It was fun! Messy, but fun.

It was definitely tricky at the start. I saw a tutorial on youtube a long time ago on how to make em, and they seemed simple enough but phew! If you don't have it down right, you end up with a huge mess XD. When making these, water is your best friend!

That bowl has salted water in it. The white stuff is all the rice that fell off my hands when I'd wet them again.

Man... I wish I had recorded it. Basically you have to keep your hands wet with salted water so that the rice sticks even more. You take a little ball of rice in the palm of your hand and dig a little hole that you stuff with whatever you want in it. I chose salmon. Not a lot though, or you're gonna have a bad time. Then take some more rice, a little more than what you already have in your hand, and cup it over the stuffed rice. Immediately start molding it together or you're gonna have a bad time. The shit will spill and stick everywhere. Sprinkle water, and keep your hands kinda wet.
If the rice is still warm, it'll fall apart easier, so let it cool off first before doing much. I learned this the hard way.

Wrapping them with nori was... interesting lol. I didn't know wtf I was doing so I just did it however, and as long as it wrapped it all, it worked for me. haha

Again, water. Water, water, water.
The nori is dry and flakey when it's in the package. It becomes soft and flexible, almost rubbery, when it's saturated. The rice sticks to it as soon as they touch so keep a neat work space, lol, and wrap that shit!

They're so yummy! I had one as soon as I finished and they're really good. The nori really gives a lot of flavor. And they're great snacks! I was able to make 8 with 3 cups of rice, and I also have some left-over salmon for sandwiches and such.
Later it occurred to me that they would be so much better with avocado. Next time!
Rot and Josh didn't seem interested in trying them. Oh well. That just means more for me! ^_^

This week I may be back in Little Tokyo. DnD guy asked when we could go again, and it just so happens we have the same day off, so woohoo! More Ramen and boba for meeeee! ^_^ His equally nerdy bff just moved here from Virginia (I think?) and it calls for LT time. I'm excited, should be great fun ^_^

Also, for anyone that's interested in the server I play WoW on *ahem xp black os user who's name shall not be mentioned* http://www.emeralddream.com/guide/windows go there and do what it says. It's about 5 gigs. Super easy.

Saint Valentine

A  Roman saint celebrated on the 14th of February so you can get laid.

"Saint".. isn't that a Catholic thing? So do Athiests celebrate Valentine's Day? Jews? Sorry.
Brain went from 0 - 60 because I had such a great day today!

I'm really thankful to have the loves that I do in my life. And I'm extremely lucky to be living with one of them, but I don't think I've ever really celebrated Valentine's Day before. I think like... once in high school. And last year. Other than that... I don't count grade school because the ninja turtle cards were mandatory but putting that aside.. never been a Valentine's Day type.
Last year was a joke. Rot and I decided to finally do something, and we plan everything out to spend the day doing the stuff you're supposed to do for the sake of obligation, when I get a phone call from a former friend who found out her internet boyfriend sent the $40 box on the website to his friend, and she only got the $20 plant from the same website. She's probably the world's greatest private investigator / google user.
Rot was livid because he doesn't care for V-Day much either, but we were driving around, wasting gas, to try to do something nice specifically for that day so we could be normal just like everyone else. So I guess last year didn't count much either. I don't remember what we did... I think we went to some restaraunt OH YEAH we went to this greek place no wait. NO. WE WENT TO THIS LIKE RAW, VEGGIE PLACE WITH POTATOES. Or something. No they had meat. Anywho we went there. And then I forget what else we did, lol.

OKAY. So I figured... I do something for myself today ^_^
I worked this morning, but I pushed through my tiredness and as soon as I got home I got ready and asked Rot to drop me off at the train station on his way to work. Today was Love Yourself, Cynthia day! It's so great to have people you love and love you back in your life, but don't forget to love yourself first, and always!

I ventured to Little Tokyo today, parasol in hand because it was sunny as shit. It felt good to walk around and just... be there again. I wasn't scared. There were a few uncomfortable moments... which I come to expect just about every time I go somewhere because men suck at controlling themselves, but it's nothing speed walking and no acknowledgement can't fix.
The whole time I was thinking of how much I wished Devon were there, so we could go on a little search for our mystery boxes and do our little LT things.. which btw, I didn't get. The first thing I did was hit Mr. Ramen to stuff myself. The hostess was incredibly sweet. She recognized me I think... seemed glad to see me when I walked in. That felt really nice. :)
I sat further in, where we last sat together and got a bowl of Chashu Pork Ramen with an extra egg. She gave me 3 eggs, and only charged me for one extra. That also was really nice.

So I sat there by myself, content, pondering, remembering, and chilling there with my bowl of Ramen. That too was really nice. As I ate I looked at all the cool little drawings on the wall that people had sent in, and the menu pictures. I was content. Now I know why Carrie Bradshaw always goes out to just sit somewhere wit a cappuccino. She's fucking content just being by herself!

Oh my god you guys. After the hostess brought over my bill, she gave me a little gift. CUTEST GESTURE EVER.
She was all smiles, and super super sweet. She gave me a little thing of Pocky candy!

It was so random! I totally wasn't expecting it, and it was just... incredibly nice of her. She didn't give one to any of the other people who were there, so I was really humbled. So I left her a 50% tip. It was so cute, I brought it up to the counter and her eyes got huge and she goes "oh no! too much, too much!" and I go "it's okay!" smiling. And then we both happily bowed thank yous and exchange really really humbled you're welcomes in japanese, lmao. That moment absolutely made my day! I think she knew or remembered that Devon and I would visit there together, and saw that she wasn't there this time. Maybe that has something to do with it? I'll never know. I wish I had taken her picture. What a sweetheart she was :) I'll remember her kindness, for sure.

From there I headed to the strip with the red tower where all the restaurants are. Visited Tokyo Lifestyle and browsed a few other places, then headed to Marukai. I was there way longer than I intended. It's always hard to choose what I want when I go in there. All I know is that I was munchies type stuff. Things that I can eat in small portions throughout the week. And of course my drinks. They didn't have my daifuku or the flavored mochi that I generally lean more towards getting.. lol. So that delayed my visit considerably. Considerably. Eventually I ended up getting some candy, cream filled pan, and onigiri, which I never realized they had!! YOU GUYS. IT WAS SO GOOD. It was SO good that I'm going to buy some damn nori and fish and prepare some at home. And it's the most simple thing to prepare! I never knew nori could be so effing delicious.

After Marukai, I went upstairs to the bookstore. Where I sought out volumes 7 & 8 of XXX- Holic.
Btw, it's not a pornographic manga. The "xxx" is incredibly misleading, but it's about supernatural stuff, haha.

Of course... they had all the volumes except for 7 and 8. Unbelievable lol. But I wasn't leaving empty handed, so I looked over some other manga and noticed this one:

The synopsis made me smile and seemed really silly. It's a comedy but it's also yaoi-ish. Eerrr... I don't know. It's... weird. Google it, lol. ^______^

I also picked up a memo pad to keep track of my work schedule. It's Sentimental Circus themed. So cyoooooot.

And then I went back to the other shopping area and browsed some more.

Finally when it was time to leave around 5ish, I grabbed a boba drink and split. It was starting to get dark and I'd have to walk home from the train station. But it was a great day :D

When I finally arrived at my gate, I checked the mail to find the best thing to end my day.

A letter from Devon.
Can you believe it?
I knew it was from her because we both got stationary together the last time we went, so we could write to each other. The chances of something like this happening again are slim but... yay!!! Perfect. :D

Oh, Devon. :) You are missed little lady, but I am happy to know you are settling in and are doing good where you are. I love love love your drawings! Please don't flip any tables over my posting them, lolol

Here's what I got today:

ugh this was so good.

Oh, and a pen.

Tomorrow and Saturday I am off, which will give me time to work on some more pieces for my Etsy as well as finish the commissions for my co-workers. Someone ordered two Dr. Who tardis charms. fucking... detailed as shit. lol I still don't know how I'm going to do it, but the challenge is fun.

LOL.. Rot just got home. I told him to buy me bananas for Valentine's Day. He responded saying it's not banana day :(
BUT HE JUST GOT HERE WITH SOME BANANAS AND HUGGINS :DD KBYE
