Remake

 Remember in 2018, during the Bethesda press conference at E3, Todd Howard comes out and is all like,

 "Stories that you create and tell, yourself"

I had this whole rant typed out from a few days ago about how... instead of altering original pieces of art for modern audiences, what if producers and screenwriters just got good and created new pieces?
If Todd Howard is telling people to come up with their own stories, then... I don't understand why new stuff isn't a thing anymore and everything is just a REMAKE.

Opinion: remakes suck. (Not to be confused with remasters.) me like remasters. remasters good. remake bad.

Get good. write new, good stuff. But that's the thing. It has to be GOOD. Not just new. Not just because it's passionate. It has to be good. Like how Mulan was, before they suddenly retconned her HARD WORK AND DISCIPLINE TO BECOME A LEGIT, GOOD WARRIOR and just gave her force powers CHI.

I digress.

But something that I hope goes out of style soon...

Roaring 20's, 30's, 40's themes. Everywhere. Almost as bad as Norse mythology bleeding into every platform of entertainment, but this is worse. This is worse because it's half ASSED.

The brows? Shows/movies now don't even TRY. They're just like, here draw your brows like, longer at the end and put on this etsy dress. NAILED IT. ROLL CAMERA.
Like... drag queens transform their brows all the time. Why can't actresses do it? COWARDS

The men wore make up too, groomed their brows and had slick combed hair.
I would've put Rudolph Valentino but that's not fair because he was kind of perfect.

(Stupid fun fact: Erik in Phantom of the Opera modeled himself after Valentino so that Christine would think he was the perfect man)

Anyway.... yeah. Uh. Here we go again, taking something from the past and rehashing it because we don't have our own identity or ideas.

The only reason this bugged me was because we finished watching Haunting of Hill House recently, and Poppy's design pissed me off. Not really, but it just annoyed me to look at her. It's like the costume designers didn't even TRY to make her look period accurate. Ugh. Idk why that particular character bugged me so much. Probably the last straw. When a trend or style becomes oversaturated, I get irritated just at the thought that my metabolism is working to filter another terribad copy of something I already saw/heard 5876924795829745 times before in a trailer, music video, movie, tv show, magazine, social media mnnnyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggghhhh

... Severely detail oriented. It sucks.

Been a while since I've messed around with clay stuff. I feel so out of practice and sloppy! T_T

Eons ago, I told Chicken that I'd make him an Emil helmet for his car.
I finally finished the base and baked it. It layed around and got dirty when it just needed 1 eye to finish. But I got distracted and it didn't see the light of day for several months lol.

But, since I would be finishing that up, I decided to do something cute and fun for my plants. They could have little friends. So I made them ghost friends ^_^

I used to used colored clay, but it sucks to work with, so I've just been using softer clay and painting it. I used to work with colored clay, but if it got dirty, you're screwed.
Twice teh work, but whatevs.
Jiangshi aren't ghosts, technically, kind of? I guess they aren't. Daoshi lock spirits in them I think? Right? I don't remember.
They're dead

This buddy has a lot of work ahead of it. I'll finish it this weekend for sure.

The jianshi was... I underestimated how much was gonna go into it.
I thought, it's fine, I'll just make a quick little chibi one, won't take more than an hour to just whatever it really quick.

I worked on that little guy for like 8 hours lol AND HE'S TINY.

Also... I had to learn to write the damn talisman. This took a while.

And then write it on a tiny cut of post-it. My post-its are black, so I had to paint a corner of a sheet yellow with several layers lmao. That's so stupid, who does that

Me. I'm stupid, I do that.

I got the hang of it after several practice drawings, and it all worked out. It's super tiny, barely legible, but it's... on there. Sort of.

Ah, I wanna make more stuff. idk what tho. I wanna make art dolls, but that's like way out of my league. At least... for what I'm imagining I want to do. ONE DAY.

The peace signs are out of control.

This was after my massage therapy.

I need to talk about it. Because it hurts, but it's fantastic. I don't need a pillow to sleep anymore! Going balls deep with this has been the best decision for my well being in a long time. No medicine, no amount of water, long nights of sleep, none of that, achieves the insane relief this treatment brings me.
My masseuse is amazing, I love her so much. She told me she used to volunteer in hospice work as well as work at Alzheimer centers. She recollected her fondest experiences from keeping vigil. What an honor that must be...
To assist in closing a final chapter in someone's long life. To guide them forward beyond memories they've kept away, beyond the person they became slipping away from them, and to be there to help them let go. To hold their hand, look them in the eyes if they even have the strength for one final friendly smile, from a stranger, who wants to be there. Damn. That's so special. And a big deal.

Ah, my heart feels heavy. I honestly thought... that that was for like... qualified people. Or something that isn't me. Can you imagine? Me? Walking into your room? As you're actively dying? Is that oKAY? I'd be afraid of making someone panic. Ugh.
It's something I'll explore. Though I'm unsure of how that can work with the current pandemic, but... If it's a option that can be done safely, hmmmm...
She also worked with children on the autism spectrum. Also something I could see myself doing.

I love her. She's incredible. Total healing class. She gives all her credit to her savior dude, mr. Jesus. I'm of the belief that she should give herself some credit for all that has done and still does to heal and help people, but she is happy and believes she's where she is because of mr. Jesus. And that's cool. Jesus or not, she's good people. She even does the cup thing that leaves marks all over you. I got those on my thighs and hips today. Feels crazy at first but works magic that you didn't even realize needed... magic.

Anyway, enough with my amazement at massage therapy. My chiropractor is dope too.

Tomorrow is Friday. The house this week has been extra focused on work matters. Weekend will be most welcome!
