Descanso

One of my favorite movies ever is Legend, just because I always thought it'd be awesome to wander through forests and look majestic while doing so. I'd take long, graceful strides as I scanned the canopies above me, waving away massive leaves from super big flower bushes and the wind blowing through my... spider legs on my head and shit. With like the sunlight all up on me and I'd look like some kind of colossal fairy, except not at all because I think wings and glitter look tacky as fuk.

But, you get the idea.

Forests are cool.
It wouldn't come across well, but nature stuff to me is awesome. There's something about being around a shit ton of plants that just feels so serene to me. Someday when I have a house or a place of my own, it's gonna be like fucking Jumanji in there. I swear. Vines and shit. And those dangly plants that hang off the ceiling and have vines and little branches that drape down from the pots. And I'm gonna grow roses by my window in the living room so that my house always smells like roses, and not so much like cat pee.

And I'm gonna have a canopy bed and it's gonna have vines growing down the posts, and it's gonna look like Poison Ivy came to visit and took a shit EVERYWHERE.

ANYWAY.

Yeah.

We went to Descanso Gardens. :)
It's 150 acres of beautiful botanical goodness. Fett had a whole bunch of options laid out for me to pick from that day, but the Gardens were irresistible to me. What beautiful species of plant life our planet grows around us. Imagine the dances these microscopic cells do in order to create such miraculous patterns and shapes for these plants. The way that they each are shaped for a specific role in their quest to best spread their pollen. The symbiosis between the insects and the plants. It's incredible! And so beautiful! And I felt incredibly grateful for this trip, as it's not every day that I get to view such beauty-- unless Fett manifests a lovely rose out of nowhere and leaves it on my car for me to see before I leave for work. :)

Here's a map. There was much to see, and we got to it all!

Our navigation was all kinds of random, but I can say that we started off heading towards the Tea House in the Japanese Garden. (duh)

ugh, it was so beautiful. And the smells!
^_^

There were many lizards. We ran into several throughout our walk.
They too sported different colors!

Why are flowers so eccentric? I'm curious about the science and origins of their shapes and designs and colors. There are probably flowers out there with genetic coding that produce a spectrum of colors that the human eye can't even process further than what our own prisms allow.
Like that fucking lobster that can see like 20 more colors than us. CAN YOU EVEN IMAGINE HOW CRAZY THESE FLOWERS COULD LOOK?

There was a large house that show cases art and holds small events inside.
They were closed on Mondays, lol.

 I CAUGHT IT POOPING :D
LOOK, IT'S COMING OUT OF IT'S BUTT!

These were my favorite. I did not see the label for this species of flower, but this is.... the most awesome thing ever. They were soft and fluffy, and reminded me of Dr. Seuss. We'll just call 'em "poofs"

They look creepy when they wilt. I want these in purple, lol.

 Another lizard!

These were neat, just not as fluffy as the poofs.
They had a shit ton of pollen though. Horniest plant ever.

These were large, draping bushes. Can you see the bees?
Fett stayed far away, for he does not like bees, haha.

I love these trees. Their branches and trunks twist and writhe in what seems to be an evil stance waiting to strike out at you, like you're Snow White or something. Clearly, none of us are Snow White, but if we were... if we were, that wouldn't make sense.

 BIRD HEAD FLOWERS :D

What the flying fuck is the function of their design? I love it, lol.

 Should paint those red.

Twisted tree trunk railing!

 Ah, the lake.
The beautiful view of the lake.
It was quiet, serene, relaxing, and all the while full of life beneath the still waters.
hmmmm ^_^.....

The rose garden took my breath away

There was a class that day- an art class. The students were doing paintings of different parts of the garden.

 Fairy tale arch!

These were HUGE.

 Ponds are so cute.
The gift shop also had a lot to look at.
There was the actual shop portion, and the outside portion that had lots of plants and lovely things to decorate your garden with. They also had these little fairy town collectibles in a little green house off in a corner, just for this display.

It was a lovely afternoon, spent in complete relaxation and bliss.
Someone told me to stop and smell the flowers every now and then. They'll always be here, and there's so much beauty in the world that we can take a moment to appreciate every once in a while, amidst our own chaos, and remember that not everything is shitty. It doesn't have to be.
So... next time something sucks... just stop and smell the flowers.

And take that moment in, and smile. And be glad you're alive to enjoy that moment.

Because some dumb ass could hit you with their car and that hospital bill will suck, so.
