Spoopies and Blizzcon 2018

  Another Blizzcon has come and too quickly gone by. It feels like everything happened SO fast. Including this entire fracking year. I wanna say that's a good thing, except it's like time seems warped to move faster as you get older. Tomorrow I'll be 32. I'm sure of it.

And I just needed to share with you guys this beautiful moment in history from Blizzard food time. This was a WHILE ago, but someone there decided Kronk's spinach puffs needed to be real, and they were, and they were delicious. When the kitchen staff gets creative, everyone lives for it. This is just one of those moments.

I GOT BRACES.

So, I had them when I was a teenager, but was neglectful with the retainer. As much as I tried, I ate too much shit 24/7 and the habit was too beyond my then--stubborn daily routines. Before I knew it, the retainer no longer sat comfortably on my teeth, and .. I thought everything would be fine.

It wasn't TOO bad though. My teeth shifted over the years, though not as terribly as they could have. But I have them now, and they've already shifted some strays lol. They'll be moving things around for 2 years total. I'm almost sad that eventually they'll be removed. They match my face bling so well, haha

I've only the top braces on currently, and this month will have the bottom done. The excitement levels I have now compared to when I was 15 are immeasurable.

Disneyland park itself is less spooky itself, but still lights up beautifully at night. And all the Halloween snacks come out to scare your sugar levels. It's the scariest.

Since Blizzcon peeps went yesterday, we're going today lol.

Someone from work went to the Tokyo parks, saw this and brought it back knowing I'd want it. MY HUSBAND. The best part is that she used to work at Disneyland, and used to be the Oswald character. And I met her there on Dapper Day in November of 2016. And she recognized me at work, and I screamed.

In the same package he also surprised me with these lights as an anniversary gift. Because I've been wanting to turn my room into those cyberpunk in japan at 2 am photography twitter accounts. you know?

I literally just googled cyberpunk in japan photography. and named the file "literally"

With all its creepy props and dolls and figures and obnoxious posters and decor

It's dope, I love it so much. The LEDs are sound activated with various settings and go batshit when music plays. It's my own little cave of everything I need perfect for my night owl tendencies.

In addition to the LED strips, I also got myself a rotating LED lamp, which is what is making the red streaks on the Emil prop, and purple bat LED lights for my headboard. Because I'm extra.

I decided to do morning shifts at work now. No regrets. It's so serene when I finally get there.

The only thing that sucks is the traffic back home, but it's fine because my room is dope.

And then boyfriend surprised me with this little gift from wayyy back that came in the D3 collectors edition.

So yeah, here's another project I began. It sucks and I hate it but love doing it.

It's a new experience for me because I've never gone this big. The biggest I've done was a raven eating carrion that was commissioned to me, which stood about 5 inches tall. The only framework it needed was in the feet. This however is a completely different thing, and I'm learning as I go.

Like, I'm still not sure where exactly everything is going to sit. I'm just kinda making it up as I go, basically. It's challenging, but that's the part that motivates me most. I like challenges! 

It's Cydaea. She's gonna be a huge obstacle to overcome, but I'm determined. And before it comes up.. I do not, nor do I intend to sell anything from any Blizzard IPs. So don't ask, thanks!

She's beautiful and pointy and sharp and will stab you in places if you touch her.  I taught her the pointy stabby bits. 

Soul Calibur 6 is really fun. The story mode is.. just as cheesy as I remember it, but that's what makes it Soul Calibur tbh. And the char creator is wild. I fell in love with Voldo back in SCII, and like yeah, we had a daughter and this is her and I hope you love her as as much as I do.

So work had a thing. It was a Halloween event for employees and their fams.

I found my family in the petting zoo.

We connected instantly. Twice. Unfortunately the first kiss wasn't photographed, but I assure you, it happened. WE'RE CONNECTED. (it's an alpaca.)

I haven't seen him in over a year. That's incredible. Some stuff went down, but we caught up and um, like. Ya, he's my bestie and that's never gonna change.

He's also an author and his latest book made me cry. He just finished writing the sequel and a lot of people in our circles have been talking about it. He's nervous about the reception he'll get, but the love he puts into his writing is so apparent through his words. I know he's gonna kill it. 

My favorite movie genre is ghosts and dead stuff with little kids. This is vampires with a little kid. She has a fatal condition. And the vampire can't even. And I love this story so much. I keep bugging him to consider making a graphic novel, but he is unsure how well it'll take. ANYWAY it's a dope read.

Meet Cindy. She flew in from Missouri to visit the Blizzard campus. I brought her in as a guest, idk why.

HAY, so ya I went to Dalaran U., but magic is hard.. and weapons are the heaviest ever, and that's like, sO NICE but no. 
Um, but like everyone at Blizzard was really nice and thought I was funny because they kept laughing at me when they saw my face?! LOL like whet? HA HAbutYA it was such a good time and like, I got to meet people who have to like, work? So that was cool.

This guy I met, Chacko was laughing at me, he said he liked my statement but.. whET? And this other guy Vic laughed at me too, like, he liked my concept or whatever but I don't even wear that brand of make up... so thanks????? It was confusing and everyone's kinda weird or whatever but I guess it was fun. I heard they have like, games there. That's cool. My ex played games, and thats sO GREAT but he didn't make time for me SO LOL. SO YEAH oh the PSLs are the best. And like, yeah was so F U N. Loves it, ya. totally did

Everyone seemed to be quite charmed by Cindy. I dropped her off at the airport that same night after her visit. She won't be back until next year at some point, I'm sure. And then I got messages saying they miss her. And the next day I'm like

When Blizzcon was a few days away, we prepped.

We took the bus, and ran into Steve, whom I refer to daily as Illidan because he wrote the script for the most closure I've ever felt with Illidan and Tyrande.

As soon as we get inside, which...

CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW AMAZING SECURITY WAS THIS YEAR? I loved it. Even though we didn't spend much time outside, the times we did have to go out there to get from one end of the building to another, it was neat and open and not swarming with massive amounts of ugly equipment all over the courtyards, loud music playing over everyone, or congregating giant crowds just loitering and causing a ton of foot traffic. The event was closed off to those with access to the convention. 10/10 this needs to be a thing forever.

Once we got inside, we rushed over to the Warcraft 3 demo area.

It wasn't unveiled yet, but the blank area on the map gave it away lol. So we rushed over there by where the line starts and watched opening ceremonies. And once it was announced, I screamed. Well, I screamed during the trailer of the nightmare. Everyone else was quiet and probably thought I was crazy, but it was obviously the nightmare. Or premonition. From Medivh. OBVIOUSLY.

The line for the demo opened up aaaaannnnddddd...

After that, we wandered and ran into friends and did all of the things!

We went to play the Diablo Immortal demo.

The general consensus that I got from people who have actually played it is that they really liked it. It runs smoothly and the interface was, while still somewhat intimidating, simplistic enough to get comfortable with and ease into. It's beautiful quality. The controls are flawless. One thing that turns me off from games like this on mobile is the joystick functionality. Sometimes they're choppy and the commands I input don't always register on the touch screen without repeated, often times frusterated, friction. This was... this felt like a console. Sooo smooth. I'm really looking forward to playing it once it comes out.

After the demo, I wanted to stop by the Diablo play area to say hi to some peeps from work. I learned that if you rub two Switch consoles together, you'll connect instantly.

I didn't get too many pictures of cosplays but saw a few cool ones walking around inside.

OMG. Taliesin has this thing where he creeps up behind me EVERY TIME he finds me. He finds me idk how he does it. This time, I was sitting in the Diablo tavern area playing it on the Switch, when this dude in glasses and a beanie comes up behind me and says something like "playing Diablo on the Switch, huh?"

And I look at him directly, for like a milisecond, and I'm like

and go turn around to go back to playing. I didn't recognize this person as being anyone from work, but still wanted to be cordial and not be a dick, but I'm awkward when new people approach me! That's how the cynthia fish do. She awkward.

And Taliesin takes his glasses off and starts laughing when I glance back at him again, and I notice Erika next to him, laughing too and I'm just... floored. HE LOOKED NOTHING LIKE HIMSELF. Disguised af. He took his beanie off and revealed his glorious hair and bear hugged me and I AWWWWWW

I love love loVE seeing this man. He's the sweetest and we go back so long and it's just... it's always great to see him. He saw my bf and gave him the biggest hug too. Ugh, I gotta bug him more. He keeps inviting us to go up to LA but I'm a piece of shit. BUT. I will. We'll go. I'll make it a point to.

The only panel I was able to make it to was on the second day for the Diablo Immortal Q&A panel. I really wanted to just be there to support Wyatt and Matt. Bf and his friends went to watch the HoTS finals that were on before and through this panel. I tried... but MOBAs aren't my thing. :|

Afterparty! But quickly found that I recognized like only one person from work. Apparently a ton of streamers were there. No clue who anyone was.

Blizzcon was a blast. It was awesome seeing so many people from work... outside of work. Kind of? Wish I could've taken more pictures, but... I think I got enough lol.

Everything was awesome and I think for the most part, we all had an exciting time. I took today off to take an extra bit of time for recovering before returning to work. I'm stoked for the things to come in the future, as I hope everyone else will be also. 

Now it's time to leave for Disneyland :D
