It wasn't until towards the end of our meal that I realized my wallet wasn't in my bag.

This is the beginning of a horrible habit I'd picked up at some point, but once we got back to his place, in a panic, I hauled ass back to my place (which was stupid) and searched for my wallet.

I found it buried under manga on my computer chair.

And Topher hit me up. It was still kind of early in the evening, so I said fukkit and split for his place.

God I cant remember the last time Ponies and I had gone out to a club together. It's been a whiiiile
So we went to Bats because all the other ones were so goth they died lol

I don't even think we were there for more than an hour maybe. The song selection was weird. So when wonky stuff played, Ponies and I would retreat to the stage and sit there like bitches, watching everyone, accompanied by Ponies' snarky wardrobe commentary.
When Boys Don't Cry came on, Ponies, Steven, and I all halted our ethereal swaying almost simultaneously and sat our bitchy asses down on the stage lolol..
Shouldn't be proud of that but Steven put it best when he said "I haven't had enough drinks to want to dance to this right now"

Oh. To keep a good balance between my uber kvlt and weeby self, I had to wear my oppawatch shirt :|

I think it was only like, 11:30 or something by the time I got home after Bats. Ponies had to get up early the next day anway.

It was kind of a confusing clusterfuck for a bit because Doge was having a thing at his place later on, and we were trying to figure out who was going. He left early to prepare for it, but I stayed and ended up going with Topher to meet Jay and them for dinner.

After dinner, Topher and I headed over to Doge's.

I got a sweater at Titancon and it's so warm and snuggly and comfy and da best and it has a cute widdle coffin on it with a pixelated skull and ^_^

The next day I made my dream come true and did a thing.

I'd been talking about it for a little while and finally got motivated to do it.

Since I've been on a hard Junji Ito kick lately...

The most annoying part is being so detail oriented. So doing all the textures and shit took me a while.
But here's what it looks like after baking!

I shade it with pastels and water

And finally glaze the body.
Pastels are annoying so I like to use a matte sealant before going in with glaze

And Tadaaaaah!

Custom pizza places are a new thing that I really like, thanks to Ponies.

so last week, Smiley and I finally went out in search for this new black ice cream that had become a thing. He asked me about it a little bit ago, but I um... kept.. forgetting lol

And our schedules just kept getting in the way but

Off to Downtown L.A.

There's this place called Honey Pig that I've had my eye on for a while. We were both super hungry soooo... it was perf.

This place is korean bbq but with a ton of sides. Like larger portions than usual that they throw on the grill thingie.
We underestimated our foodie powers.

So we headed to this place called Little Damage in the heart of L.A.

Such a simple idea, and it's blowing up

They have 2 flavors.
The black is rose
and the other is... "Unicorn Tears"
idk what that means, I didn't get it. Nor did I try Smiley's, but my guess would be some kind of minty thing. I could be wrong. Idk. But I really liked mine.

Was really yummy.

I've been seeing a lot of people on the interweb getting excited to come eat this, getting all dressed up in black. It makes me smile lol :P

The next day, Saturday, was the day of the Bats Day Black Market.

Ponies was boothing again this year, and we had to be up early to get get breakfast and check in at the DoubleTree hotel.

And get coffee. It was going to be a looooong day.
The doors for the event open at 2pm for VIP guests ($5 entry fee for an additional hour to browse) and doors opened to the public at 3pm at no cost. The event went to 10pm.

I'm happy to say that Ponies had a very successful day. He sold out of 3 books and made his booth back and more. He was so worried that people wouldn't buy books because no one reads anymore. But BOOM! Ha :D

Afterwards, we went to Honda-ya, as is post Black Market tradition.

Disneyland!!

We decided to sleep in and wait til later to go.

Didn't leave til around almost 2ish

So, again, the Disney lots filled up and we had to go to the Anaheim convention center lot to park. From there, we had to take the bus to the park. We hadn't spotted any Bats Day peeps yet.

We take the 2 back seats, right in the middle;

"we look so cool right now."

Ah, the metal detectors were fun
Idk how many times we set them off but BOY WAS IT FUNNY
My spikes came into question on this particular day. Which I found funny because all the other billion times I come visit Disneyland, they were never an issue before.
But I heard one of them shrug it off, and we kept walking.

We went straight towards Tomorrowland. I wanted to show him the Launch Bay, but we got sidetracked by the Jedi show that was going on with the Younglings at the Jedi Temple.

We were browsing stuff in the launch bay, when one of the cast members paused us to tell us how much she appreciated us and liked Bats Day. It's her favorite, and how everyone is so chill, polite and really nice. She's never had a bad encounter with Bats Day people and we all look amazing.

Just, the praise. She was really really sweet and wanted us to know how much she appreciated Bats Day and us. She stressed "appreciated" lol.

We humbly thanked her and curiously, I asked like, wow have you had bad experiences with other .... days..? lol

She nods through a grimace, as she looks to her coworker who stood next to her, and they say.....

And I was so fake lol I was like aww that sucks, how come? what happened? Like I don't already know right lol

And she was just like, they're loud and obnoxious and really snobby

and she went on to thank us and was sweet and stuff.

Apparently there have been incidents where people had to get kicked out of the park, like groups. For being boisterous.

Like, ew.

Last year I went for a whole hour, got a picture with Oswald and left lol.
This year I went by myself, met up with someone, but was mostly there for Oswald xD
You can FEEL the snobby elitism in the air. No joke.
But, I will say that I did get a lot of nice compliments from people on Dapper Day. Like, the normal people, not the fancy dressed ones. The fancy dressed ones exist on another plane of reality way higher up than the rest of the other lowly, and non-creative attendees.

So, that was a nice little treat! xD

And then it started to rain!
It was a gorgeous overcast day ^_^

Then once we were done with food, Ponies wanted to go on Space Mountain.

Almost 2 hours in line later....

And right after, we went to the Haunted Mansion meet up for photos!

We saw Mattie and grouped up with him. He works at Disneyland and told us about all kinds of stuff. My questions about the people who go in at night and clean the attractions were all answered O_O

So, we were dead set on a quest to get snacks to bring with us to get in line for Matterhorn, when I heard a castmember outside a shop in Frontier land say "--bat pins that launched today" to someone.
I stopped DEAD IN MY TRACKS and turn to look at her.
She turns to me and looks me up and down and goes.....

"....C'MON!" and waves at me to follow her

APPARENTLY, these limited edition haunted mansion bat pins launched on Bats Day
and while it's not an official bats day thing, it's still like.... a nod to us. or at least, that's what it felt like. and i thought that was so cool of disneyland to do.

Ahh, it was a fun day.
Saw a lot of people, ate yummy, go on some rides and pooped ourselves out well.

All in all, this Bats Day weekend was awesome. I'm really happy for Ponies too.
He deserves the recognition and praise for all the work he has and does put in towards his writing. It's great, all of his books are so good and I encourage you to read them.

And last night, I saw someone I haven't seen in almost a year.
It's so funny how we met, but uh.
We were talking about reading, and manga, and Berserk... and then I wanted dessert.

So.

We went to this place called the Bleu House

It was so good to see him again.

And this place is so cute omfg

He got green tea creme brulee and a Thai iced tea
I got the taro milk tea with boba (duh), creme brulee, and a rose and taro macaron to share.

The only time we got to hang was at the AX dance last year

but even then, I couldn't really hang out with him much because I was with my friend, who I had dragged to come with me to the dance in hopes of cheering him up lol.

But hooray :)
