Cynthia went out last weekend to a club!
:O
ARE YOU SO EXCITED TO READ SOME WORDS TONIGHT -- YEAH YOU ARE, YOU WORD READER, YOU :B look at you, all sexy with your word reading skills
You guise may have read a bit about my friend Jason in past entries.
lol, he looks so douchey here. This was when we hung out a few years back at Blizzcon. Jason and I go back a long ways. He's probably one of my oldest friends here in L.A. We met through a bridge and got along really well because we're both nerdy dorks. And I can make myself look cool enough to be seen w/. (L.A. realness, mama)
Anywho. Every now and then I'll do merch for him at his shows.
That's exactly what I was doing at Bar Sinister last Saturday, exactly a week ago!
He told me to meet him there at 9.
That evening I went to try .... hang on.
Okay you guise, here's the part where I'm gonna bust out the selfies because I was trying something new w/ my bangs that I don't normally do and it came out (from my perspective) looking well.I realize this is pretty narcisitic but in my defense... seldom do I litter my posts w/ selfies -- and when I do I usually look like a few sections of my brain didn't develop. So just.... just let these happen. k?
Thanks.
I just pinned my bangs back. That made me look all the differentsss, and it didn't suck or make me regret it.
BACK TO THINGS.
I went up to the gate and saw him standing down the corridor. To get his attention I shouted his name, and he came over to let me in. We sat in the green room for a few moments and talked about stuff and caught up. And of course took photos :D
After some chatting we headed over into the little restaurant bar within Boardners. The guys were having dinner, and I hung out for a bit until it was time to set up the merch table. Jason called me over to have me look over stuff and keep watch until doors opened at 10.
While there, I noticed another vendor that had set up in the corridor; an artist who goes by Shayne of the Dead. He had a long table set up with tons of prints of paintings he did. Instantly, I had to go over and have a look- as most of them were of cute girls but all .. dark and stuff.
I bought two =\
Following that, before doors opened I kind of went walking around a little bit, and discovered something about myself.
While wandering through the merch to see what's where, while going back down the stairs, I realized how much I don't miss this view. The backroom or stage or whatever, full and compact w/ stacked instrument cases and merch tubs, soon to be crowded w/ overzealous acquaintances and eager ladies.
I looked upon all the cases and a part of me automatically rejected ALL of it.
It was an absolute I am so fucking over this and never want to be a part of it ever again moment.
It had nothing to do w/ my friend Jason, of course. It's his career, and I happily am not involved :D Just helping out!
For newer readers; I was w/ someone who swore he'd be a musician until he grew old, prioritizing that 'career' above all else in his life. While it started out as a new beginning for me, it quickly spiraled into bullshit, lies, neglect, drama, and dealing w/ people I'd never bother w/ if it hadn't been for the bridges he needed to maintain for the sake of his image. The only thing that kept me smiling at clubs and events was the fact that he was two-faced, and genuinely hates all those those hollywood people who call him friend. Otherwise it sucked ass, and it's a scene full of lying assholes and attention starved bitches that try to come off as your friend, only to get closer to "the band". A mere game of how many hot people from hollywood can I tag in my facebook status?
So, as you can probably imagine, it was a huge relief to look upon all that and just be like... LOL WHATEVS. Walk by it, and not do a damn thing. :D
That's not to say I didn't make some cool friends during that time, because I did. I'm just super wary of who I associate w/. Like I counted 3 people who requested me on Facebook walk by me last night, look me dead straight in the face, and keep walking. This made it easier for me to cut ties w/ them. One girl I never trusted anyway. She talked a lot of shit and likes to spread rumors and talk shit about people, myself included. She approached me one night at some stupid night involving ex's old band trying to clear her name of gossiping about my private life, and then later tries to connect w/ me over her drama w/ some other girl. my ex warned me about her, but either way she's whatever.
See? Hollywood is dumb. It's just yapyapyapyapyapyap blah blah blah blah I'M FRIENDS W/ THE GUYS IN THE BAND blah blah blah blah lol.
I won't bore you anymore w/ that!
Once 10 'o clock hit I manned the merch fort all night, with two special gentlemen keeping me company throughout the night!
Our first gentleman was.... Geoff!!
Geoff is awesome.
He is awesome because he and I are very alike.
We notice everything, and we probably will pick out the flaws in it, and make sure the flaws are never forgotten. It's just our nature.
We also appreciate many similar things. He's the best. We can sit and bitch about the tiniest little detail and pick it apart and analyze it and talk about that forever. It's awesome. This also includes people. I don't even know how many asses we saw that night, but you can bet we had nicknames for all of them.
When Geoff had to go help set up for Jason's set, gentlemen number 2 came in!
Krz!!
Krz is great. This guy.
is perceptive
as
fuk.
and I love that about him, lol.
We know a lot of the same people in the scene, and it felt really good to have someone who had a similar view to mine regarding 'hollywood people' and the bullshit that comes w/ them.
Not to mention he got a Bachelor's in Psychology and also studied Sociology, which means to me that his observations of the environments and people around us are credible, lol. Krz is awesome.
Can I tell you guise that towards the end of the night, an attendee of the show completely took Krz and I by surprise when he did this tiny little magic trick w/ a sticker on the merch table? He like, did this fancy little finger dance thing w/ it and it would disappear, and then reappear, and and and and omg.
TURNS OUT HE WORKS AT THE MAGIC CASTLE, AND HE TOTALLY PUT ON A LITTLE MINI SHOW FOR US AT THE MERCH TABLE :O
He did those whole card act thing. TWICE! Krz and I were total 4 year olds and giggling like morons throughout the whole thing in disbelief. It was really impressive, and awesome to watch him perform right in front of us.
He goes by Nexxus, and he generously extended an invitation to the both of us to attend the Magic Castle whenever we so chose. This was absolutely incredible, and I will totally take him up on that. His mini performance had me so happy and giddy that I tipped him LOL. He originally declined, but I insisted, because he was so amazing lololol.
I also saw my T!!!! I think the last time I mentioned him was when we played together? Wait. no.
Yes. maybe? At Sanctuary? I don't remember, but it's been a while!
He was super nice and gave me a painful massage that instantly felt amazing as soon as he was done.
You guise don't understand the stress my muscles go through while I'm at work. Perhaps it's also my mattress, but either way, I have massive crazy amounts of tension in my shoulder blades and all down my back. It's never-ending soreness. Even sitting at my computer can worsen the pain.
from the top of my neck and basically this entire photo of muscles, lol. just. a mess. of tense soreness. =\
So it's ALWAYS a pleasure to see my T, because his massages are heavy duty enough to get most of the knots out, and it helps me out sooooooo much!!!
THANK YOU, T!!!! You're a doll!
We didn't get out until 3, but it was good times. I had fun. I even went upstairs for a little bit to see what T and his lady were up to.
My only complaint that night was when I was walking to the parking lot, while on my phone, some dipshit across the way shouted at me. He was catcalling, and drunk, and it annoyed me enough to shout back at him. He was w/ friends, and they were laughing at him. He started coming towards me asking me why I was upset and that he wanted to talk to me and blah blah compliment and drunk chatter, I forget what I yelled at him, but I did it loud enough so other people in the parking lot could hear me, then turned and kept on walking, resuming my conversation w/ Fett on the phone.
Idiot.
Hmm... it's already Monday. I start my classes next week!
Kind of nervous, but also kind of excited.
Kind of nervous, but also kind of excited.
I also got this in the mail the other day.
It's from one of my closest friends, who also happens to be my ex from high school. He basically donated all of his cards to me, which I will happily accept as a birthday gift! Hahaha. I'm stoked. There's someone at work who also plays, and we talked today about getting together to start a game. Super super stoked!
Speaking of birthday things.... Fett wants to do something tomorrow, as we wont' be able to on the actual day of my birthday. So. I'm off! It's almost midnight!!!
I hope everyone's having a wonderful night :)
Bye you guiiiiisssee!!!
