St Valentine

Now that my knee was healed after much rest, I did the smart thing and bought a support compressor thing so that when I do go running, my dominant right knee won't strain so much.

So snazzy and stylish! And it helps, a lot!

Except I went running after work yesterday and fucked up both my knees somehow.
I'm not sure where this is all coming from, since the only different thing I do now than when I did before is I go at a faster pace and don't need to stop to catch my breath anymore and sound like a wheezing cat coughing up a colossal hairball.

I'm thinking that the consistent impact from the running now, compared to before when I would take short walking breaks because I felt like I was dying, is too much for my shitty knees. So I'm just going to have to take breaks in between runs until my muscles develop enough to where I can run consistently again.

Valentine's day was a thing!
I spent the night at Fett's the evening before. At midnight he goes and grabs a black little mesh bag and hands it to me. Inside is a heart locket with a bead and ribbon chain. SNEAKY. SNEAKY, I TELL YOU.
I had completely forgotten it was Valentine's Day the day after. He took me by complete surprise-- as he generally does.

My favorite part about this is that it's not chocolate or candy :D
It's so very lovely, and touching. There's a little mirror inside also. I described it to him as a trinket that I'd equip in a video game or something, because that's what it looks like to me. And it would have some kind of cool down on it that was awesome. When the beads and ribbon are all intertwined between my fingers and danging off my hand as I grip it, it looks pretty sick you guys. It's totally magic.

The next day he had work, but was off early enough for us to still do something.
I worked on my piece throughout most of the day in between editing.
There was something I had also been working on for him, in addition to the commission I did.
Unfortunately, I can't show his gift. But that was also something I had been working on for a little while to have done in time for V-day.

He told me to be dressed in semi-formal wear. You guise, I got anxiety.

That same evening after he finished with work, Fett comes over to pick me up for us to go out somewhere.
"Can I at least get a hint of where we're g-"
"Don't worry about it" :)

It was a lengthy 2 hourish drive mostly due to the traffic that night. Our destination was in Long Beach. We passed several signs for the Queen Mary, the Pier, the Aquarium, the Convention Center, and he wouldn't tell me a thing.
We finally arrive at the entrance to a long driveway, and it suddenly smells like the beach. There are fancy people standing outside this gorgeous building in formal attire.

The valet parking thing happens again and I almost panic. JEEZ, valet parking is still like... the most under rated luxury that exists. Seriously.
Anyway, we were at The Reef.
This gorgeous restaurant that Fett said was also a part of the group that runs The Castaway in Burbank. Makes sense. It felt very... by the sea.

The little walkway to the door was like walking through a lovely lit garden, before you reach the podium inside to be seated. He had a reservation for us that night. The funny thing is while we were on our way here I asked him if we could get food afterwards XD. He asked me during our dinner if I still wanted to go eat later. Goofball :P

We were seated outside by the heat lamp thingies with a gorgeous view of the harbor.
They were serving a Valentine's Day special 4 course meal, and there was a wedding going on in another part of the restaurant that we had a view of as well. It was all super crazy romantic.
I looked for a cheap beer on the drink menu to take it down a notch lol, but all they had were wines.

The evening before, while we were out driving around, I played The Bee Gees and The Carpenters in the car for us to listen to, amongst Little River Band and some Barbara Streisand and Barry Gibb duets, and little Kansas here and there. He lol'd at me. I like oldies, what can I say? Did I lose goth points?
They played The Beegees and The Carpenters at the restaurant and I started happily singing along to them, I was so excited! It probably looked a little silly to the other patrons as I already looked severely out of place, and also happened to know all the lyrics to "How deep is your Love" by the Bee Gees. but that made it even better!! :D I hope he wasn't too embarrassed! hahaha ^_^

Looking at this view over dinner combined with The Bee Gees was pretty great though.
I gave him his gift, which he made clear how much he loved. How I wish I could share it with you guys, but it'll have to wait.
I kept it together throughout almost the whole night
until they brought the check and he grabbed it
I got teary-eyed.

I TRIED.

Our 4 course meal consisted of calamari, which I loooooove
seafood bisque, our entrees, and this cute little dessert.
Cray cray.

I talked to him about how awful I feel for most men in relationships on Valentine's Day because it's an automatic loss of money no matter what, if they have a shallow partner. If she doesn't receive anything on Valentine's Day, he's looked upon as a bad lover-- and I see that as really unfair. I told him we could've had dinner at IHOP or Denny's and I would've been thrilled to just have spent the evening with him, period. But again, he went balls out and blew me away.

I felt like Carrie Bradshaw in that one episode in the 6th season of Sex and the City where she gets lightheaded because Alexandr was being romantic. They're going to the opera and he stops her outside, there's music playing, he's taking in the scenery and admiring her in her dress, says everything is perfect, and he's like "take my hand. dance with me." She's narrating how it's the most romantic moment ever, and she goes to take his hand
 and passes out.
When she comes to, he's looking at her like wtf are you okay? lol and she's like "I'm an American, you need to take it down a notch"

YUP.
They went to go get a hot dog and fries, hahahaha.

Except I didn't pass out, I just cuddled his arm on the drive home and slept. He stayed the night, even though I had work at 5AM.

lol

He should've worn his helmet to the restaurant. ha XD

Last night I stayed the night at his place, and as we fell asleep, we both agreed that the phrase "I love you" holds more negative weight than positive.
"You look really cool, Hiroki" is way better.
