It turned into all kinds of fun!
First though, I had to get my tripod. I forgot it at Vanna's place, and so one afternoon after work I was gonna go over there to pick it up. Lauren had stopped by to visit me and we game planned to also get together later that night, once I was home. Things got a little hectic and eventually I didn't get to head over there, but she said she would drop it off the next morning- woot!
Lauren was on her way here asap. This was when she told me that there was a Michael's that just opened close to where she lives, which is basically 5 minutes away. So naturally we both hauled ass over there in search of spoils and Halloween-y things!
It took some time to figure out the things we were gonna get, because we were gonna make cookies!
Michael's was open only for another hour, and we pretty much spent most of it wandering around in awe, but did pick up a few things and decided to return the next day. Following there we headed over to Vons to look for more cookie stuff, and came to the decision (finally!) on chocolate chip cookies ^_^
These are the things I came home with. The little ramekins were so cute I couldn't not get them XD
Though I do need to find something for putting into that little jar.... in addition to the black widow venom of course! *ahem* ^_^
They also had super cute dog costumes!
We spent the rest of the evening watching Flowers in the Attic until it was bed time.
The next morning I woke up Lauren was already awake enjoying Netflix in the living room. We got ready to leave and waited for Vanna to arrive. Once she got here she told us about someone who also got robbed but in their home. Vanna's awesome and letting them stay with her until they get situated and find another place. All these damn robberies happening everywhere.... so scary. It made me take a few extra precautions. I'm not gonna lie-- I've become more paranoid which I guess is a good thing because nothing that comes through my door uninvited will survive long enough for me to ask why they're in my home... but at the same time it's all still quite unsettling.
Sometimes I fantasize over what I could have done different when the robber was facing his back to us. They tell us to comply, and do absolutely nothing, give them everything they ask for, but there's so much footage on youtube of robbers being surprised by the victim retaliating.... I wish I could've done something. Maybe then he wouldn't have returned and robbed them again. Thankfully I left that location, but it's scary knowing he's still on the loose, and had the balls to return. I can't imagine what it'd do to me if I had been there again.
ANYWHO... we went to Denny's right after for some breakfast.
Funny enough, there was a table of cops at the other side of our section. It made me feel better to see them there. There were 3 or 4, I don't remember. But... I was so thankful for them that Lauren and I went over there to greet them and thank them personally for the work that they do. It's gotta be tough... being a cop in LA. All the assholes and crazies you have to deal with on a day to day basis, imagine how that can eat away at you. I don't know how they do it, but they were all smiles and humbled when we thanked them. They said they don't get that very often, which is a shame. They put their lives on the line for us.
Of course the morons who fuck up and won't admit it hate cops, they have a reason to. But those of us who aren't sociopathic dickheads can actually appreciate their services. I hope they are well and safe. They all waved friendly goodbyes as they left.
The hostess also seated a woman who looked like she was on something next to them. She was quiet and well behaved, like she wasn't even there ^_^ haha I loved it
Then we went back to Michael's. We found some things for much cheaper here than we did at Vons which was great. I'm all about cheap stuff, lol.
Lauren also pointed out something that I've been wanting to get my hands on for a really, really, really long time. We left Michael's in super bright spirits, and excited to get home. I also ate boogers.
baking prep time!!
The dough was not what we were expecting, but after a few trial and errors, we finally got the shapes down right!
They were awesome! Super buttery and yummy ^_^
And then we decorated them :D
That smaller cat was actually just a random piece that was broken off. So we made it a baby kitteh!
I finally got my sewing machine.
It was on sale, and I've never seen a machine that price at a retailer. So I had to get it.
I couldn't believe it. And Lauren noticed it!
It took me a little bit to get it working and threading it correctly.
And on my first attempts, of course.... the thread jammed. 3 times.
But I have it figured out now, and did some test runs on some old t shirts that are too big for me.
I took one in already. Not so hard! The only thing now that is a little weird is counter space. It's a little challenging to sew straight with the stuff on my desk in the way of the fabric, but I'll figure something out. I kind of want to put the machine out on the table in the living room.... we'll see. I'm excited. Plushy versions of my charms are totally happening!!
Oh, also.. when one of the pipe tube things under your sink spring a hole in it... tape won't work.
THAT was fun. Thankfully the repair guy got here like 30 minutes after I called.
I heard a faint hissing noise but ignored it, then when I went back to the kitchen decided I wanted to clean the stove, so went to grab stuff from under the sink....
and everything was soaked. And there was water pooling under everything, lol.
Good thing I wanted to clean the stove! Which by the way is all nice and sparkley.
Lesson learned, clean stoves people. Because ya never know when shit's pooling under your shit while you're just trying to clean your stove. :P
Also, regarding another recent news story with violence and video games, I talk about the issue in my latest IMO (In my opinion) video. Have a looksie, and tell me what you think.
