Son of Monsterpalooza was almost two weeks ago. It was my first horror specific con, and it was really enjoyable for me!!
Firstly I'd like to extend a big thank you to my friend Matt. He hooked me up w/ a pass. I see him at just about every con ever. He runs the Rock Rebel Clothing booth, and kind of looks like a white Xerxes. Can't miss him.

It was myself and Fett all weekend. He isn't as big of a fan of horror as I am, so he probably wasn't feeling as squeaky as I was, lol. However, he did help me TONS with my cosplays.
This weekend I went as both Leechwoman and Bride of Frankenstein.
Sadly though, my Bride was off her game. I forgot some cosmetic stuff back at my apartment, plus my bangs were too short to back comb into the hair piece, so they kept coming out. It wasn't my best, but it was still pretty neat. I wore white bandages instead of tan this time. I think I like the tan ones more. They look gross, saturated with lymph fluid, and aged whereas the white bandages just look... plain.
My Leechwoman cosplay was awesome though. Not only was she easier to maneuver with (Bride's gown + bandaged fingers = ugh) but she also looked cooler.
This brought me to the decision of -- at least for now-- retiring my Bride cosplay until I feel I can get her to be what I know I can pull off. It's difficult because she has barely anything to her face, and if I leave my face blank, like hers, my expressions and eyes are washed out in photos. No bueno.
SO. Yeah.
No Bride. At least for a while.
Fett didn't cosplay as anything :P
We were there all 3 days, taking in the awesomeness of all the thingies. It was cool being surrounded by so much inspired art and sculptures and all kinds of human canvases. I can only imagine the hours put into transforming a person into something entirely different out of your own talent, with nothing more than brushes, adhesives, and body paint. Pretty incredible.

There was a taxidermy booth and they had BAAAAATS AND THEY WERE SO CUTE AND THEY HAD ALL KINDS AND THIS ONE WAS MY FAVORITE AND AND AND :(

Yuck. Don't look. But that booth with those realistic baby things was eerie as shit. She makes these realistic babies, but they were all little like... monster babies. but REAL. They looked raw. Like.. newborns. With arteries and their veins and shit showing through their skin. It was kind of gross. The one I was holding even had her decaying umbilical cord still.... as if it hadn't fallen off yet (gross, but cool) HAVE YOU GUYS GOOGLED THAT SHIT BEFORE?

There was a costume contest.
I entered, but then wanted to back out because I felt like shit about my Bride but Fett talked me into finishing through. It was fun I guess. The judges said the gown and stuff was pretty. Works for me!

There was a Bride of Frankenstein exhibit, among another art exhibit.
This exhibit displayed a number of different variations of Frankenstein's Bride from several different artists. There were a LOT, so I wasn't able to get all of them, but got a pretty decent amount. We got to see this exhibit the first night thankfully, as the rest of the weekend there was a huge line to get in.
He obviously is no one's bride. In fact, he's no one's anything. (Ouch, sorry nameless Monster. D:)
There was a lot to see, despite the size of the con (It was tiny).

I love Eric Pigor's art. He did the logo for the Halloween Town store that's by my house. It's so cuuuuute ^_^

There was a period of maybe like 8 minutes where I lost Fett in the crowd. Mortified, I wandered the aisles like a deer in headlights trying to spot him with no luck. Finally, I gave up and went to Kaira's booth for refuge in the hopes that my Fett would return to me once again.
He did!
Only he totally went and GOT THE WIDDLE BAT WITH IT'S LITTLE FEETS AND IT'S WIDDLE EARS AND TOES AND IT'S BUTT AND WIDDLE WINGS AND IT'S CUTE TINY FANGS without my knowing and suuurrrpprrriiisssed meeee

One last thing. Remember how last month I mentioned that Fett got me a 3 month sub for Loot Crate?
Well if you don't, that's what happened. The first box was a complete miss for me, and even him.
It was themed "Heroes" and contained recent stuff like Guardians of the Galaxies and TMNT. (new movies out, hi pop-culture demographics.) It was a total downer, lol. We... live under a rock. Happily. but very... very.. under rocks.
BUT THEN THIS ONE CAME IN YESTERDAY :D
And initially, I wasn't all that crazy about opening it after what happened last month, lol. Just, expecting something pop-culturey again like Titan or Game of Thrones, or something equally loud in my life.
