Pre-Bats

Check out this sweet selfie I'm opening with.
Chyeah.

It's from like a week ago, but see the shirt? It's this years Bats Day shirt!! Courtesy of Ponies. ^_^
This was already mentioned in the prior post, but expect yours truly to be helping man the Inkbleed Books booth on Saturday with the author himself. It's gonna be dope. I promise. You don't know why it will be dope, but just trust me. You could totes find out if you come by and check for yourself, though. We won't say no to selfies. You'll want one. I'm sure of it.

Three more days. The excitement is real.
I can't wait!!

The other night, one of my housemates and I went for a walk at the bike path. Considering how I no longer live anywhere near it anymore, I haven't been able to really go night running like I used to. It kinda sucks. So, the other night in an effort to get the dogs familiarized with the area, Vinny said yes to a night walk with Heimdall and Zelda. It was super quiet and dead, and the dogs loved it. Once they become better acquainted with being out there more, I'm going to start taking both of them with me on night runs. It's a win-win; they'll have a good time, and I'll feel 1000x more safe with both of them at by my side.

You don't try to mug someone with two big dogs by her side.
That's stupid.

Not that I'd be dumb enough to carry anything of value on my person anyway, but...
yeah.

Does it mean that I'm doing that rape culture thingie because I'm protecting myself? lol

Just wondering. I can't keep up with the trends and I just wanna know if I'm a misogynist or not for wanting to run at night in a safer area with two large dogs that can jump at someone's throat if the person attacked me.

And the day before yesterday, I invited Fett w/ me to come shopping for essential clothing thingies.
You see, I hate shopping for intimates, let alone clothes, in actual stores. Most of the time if I can help it, I'll do it online. but... a certain store was having a sale on stuff, so I had to take advantage of that considering how long it's been since I got new girlie thingies.

but after the tough part was done, we went exploring in the Disney and Lego stores for Star Wars goodies. Bought none, but thoroughly admired.

 HIS WIDDLE NOSE ^.^

Oh, and like, this isn't important whatsoever in the grand scale of any normal person that's not lived without eyebrows for a decade, but... I wasn't that person so.

I have eyebrows. YUP! I grew em out! Mostly out of curiosity. but... I hate upkeeping them, and it seemed easier to just not have them? Sooooooo, they'll most likely be gone by this weekend. What was funny was how they were growing back in. Took forever, and they were crazy uneven and looked all kinds of fucked up, lol. but, OH WELL :D

That face is essentially all of my sentiments regarding the matter.
merr. =\ meh.

Oh, and I completely forgot to post awesome cosplay portraits! lol
SO, HERE THEY ARE :D
Basically my final form.

Didn't they come out crazy awesome? They were taken by the same photogs who captured my Bride last year!!!

Isaac and Leah of Cosportraits ^_^
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND.
AANNNNDDDD.....
I ran into a Poe Collector cosplayer there, and we totally walked around together, and it was magical and amazing and wonderful and beautiful and great and yays
And Isaac and Leah totes got us lookin all super awesome togetherrrrrrr.

GUYS. THIS IS WHAT THE POE COLLECTOR DOES ON THE JOB.
so fukkin sik

They even got a nice shot of Fett's cosplay tooooo :D

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNND
AND AND AND

On the last day, my photog friend Doug flew in from Chicago and was like OMG CYNTHIA WTF ARE YOU I NEED TO SHOOT YOU
and I was like OMG DOUG, HOKAY LEMME GO GRAB MY SHIT REAL QUICK AND THROW IT ON
and he was like HOKAY LETS DO DIS
and I was like YA, I'LL BRT
And yea :D

That day I wasn't in cosplay but I put on my cowl and mask and posed my prettiest Poe pose and he made it work :D

Doug btw is the awesome photog who did this crazy awesome rendition of my Bride cosplay from last year.

My bride cosplay brings all the photogs to the yard. with her charming, mortified gaze.

Omg, hi your cosplay is so beautiful! is it okay if I take your picture?

............................

This is all foreshadowing, btw. Like, all of this last part of the entry wasn't for no reason. And I just used a double negative to explain that which means its importance will be made clear, very soon.

I don't think I have enough reading material.
4 of which Fett surprised me with. The only one I actually got myself was the manga, lol.
Lost count of how many Hellraiser graphic novels I have now, but ... dope.
And Fett came into my work one night with Coldheart Canyon out of nowhere. Yeah. Lots of stuff, lol.

Which means... I have to make room in my bookshelf! But there aren't really any books that I wanna get rid of... maybe some dvds.. I don't know. Fett recently brought a ton of stuff to trade in at Amoeba in Hollywood. He got a surprising amount back and with it got a bunch of vinyls. Depending on what I decide to get rid of I may have to stop by and see what I can get back.

Midnight. yay. guess that means I should sleep. Luckily I got to pick up some extra shifts this week because I'm broooooooooooooooooooooooke, lol. That's what I get for indulging on food and frozen yogurt =\
Back to scrounging and saving. Hopefully not having to commute to class this summer will help save some money with gas. 120 just for gas in 3 weeks was hurting my bank account =[

GOODNIGHT :D

Megaupdate

      Good grief.
Long time... sort of. No, yeah it's been a while. Geez...

Well, honestly, my only explanation is how unmotivated I've been to sit at my computer and write. About anything. Obviously. Despite so much going on, I wanted to maybe confide in something else, but ... here I am again. It feels sort of like that scene in Sweeney Todd where he's in Mrs Lovitt's old room, and she gives him his old straight razors, and he's like "well I've come hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooome to find you waitiiiinnnnnggggg...  my friiiieeeeennnds.."

but I've missed writing here. It's somewhere I can open myself up without the burden of engaged conversation; without noise or exhausting feedback. The text that flows from my fingertips merely listens. It's the closest thing to a BFF. I almost feel bad for neglecting it. but that's gone and done, and here I am.

I have a ton of pictures. None of which I really care too much about. I didn't even bother enhancing them. but they're taking up space and I'd like to store them somewhere... visible.

[Note; I started writing this last week, when I was feeling less than content, and rather than going in and re-writing everything all over again, I'll just go in with notes ^^]

LETS BEGIN. Damn, it's been since Monsterpalooza... when was that, March? April? lord. I don't know. here we go.

| M O N S T E R P A L O O Z A |

Frankly, it was not worth the 3 day pass that I spent $80 on. [Negative Nancy, here we go]
I went one day, saw everything, and still left kinda wondering what exactly it was that was so much larger, more impressive, and newer than what was on display at Son of Monsterpalooza 2014.

but as negative as that sounds, it's true.

Don't get me wrong, the stuff there was cool.

but 80% of it was already on display at Son of Monsterpalooza 2014.

the only difference was that there was no costume contest, the other hotel building next door had all the autograph booths, and there was an auditorium where all the (SFX mostly) panels were held every hour, which totaled out to be like 7.

but I met an awesome artist there; Eric Pigors. I see his work EVERYWHERE [relevant demographic] and saw his booth at Son of last year, but was too shy to actually talk to him. I only had enough money left to get a few patches, but this year I got a long sleeve hooded tee, and a regular tee. They're super cute. We even chatted for a bit. He was feeling under the weather, but was a super sweet guy. His work is awesome

Lots of this stuff was already seen last year.

 but I got a bat.
obvious thing is obvious :3

there was this walk-through maze thing that wasn't a maze where a ton of stuff was showcased. That was cool

a lot of the reason the line kept getting held up was because of this guy. I don't watch the show so it took me a moment to figure out who he was. yay drugs.

the booth w/ the insane life-like monster infant baby things was there again, but with more of them. If they weren't a trillion dollars I'd get one and not even feel bad about it. Probably go out and do errands w/ it, too.

I really liked this sculpture. That story was creepy

This artist stood out to me the most. They're all made entirely out of polymer.

They're just gross and beautiful and grotesque and fascinating. I loved it.

Even though I knew he'd hate it, I bought a small piece for Fett.

I'll look for this artist at Son of, for sure. Sadly, I lost his business card, but if you google "the most beautiful gross art ever" he might come up.

You know what, nevermind. I literally just googled "polymer clay body sculptures grotesque" and his work came up, lol. It's by Johnathan Payne. He made it into the Huffington Post. He titles his art "Fleshette." I love him. ugh.

 Seeing Camden was refreshing

He was literally 1 of 2 people there that I know. Was kind of a relief.

shirts from the Toxic Toons booth.

and some other goodies I found there. "Cryptic Art" was a book Eric gave me, with a bumper sticker.

The next day, which was Saturday I think, instead of going to Monsterpalooza, Fett, his friends and I all went to the Yokocho Ramen Fest thingie in Arcadia or whatever.

it was extremely hot out. there weren't as many Ramen vendors as there were last year, but it was still cool. I had 3 bowls. They also weren't as good as last year's.

We stuffed ourselves stupid. It was glorious. Their first time there, and I think we totally turned them on to Ramen. I say this because now Fett goes w/ them to get ramen like twice a week now, but admittedly I'm kinda butthurt about because I was the one who introduced him to ramen, but... yanno. oh well. that's how the cookie crumbles?

afterwards we were so full that we had to get candy, so we went to Rocket Fizz.

and then i just tagged along the rest of the day while they bought stuff. It was awful.

Next event!
Wondercon 2015
That was a lot of fun. We had been looking forward to Wondercon for a while because of new cosplaaaayyyyyssss. And I super love Wondercon, it's probably my favorite con.
Also, it's moving to the L.A. Convention Center because of how big it's become. Albeit more convenient, I'll miss booking the hotel and getting away from L.A. for a weekend.

Of course everyone loved Fett's cosplay, again.

poor thing, couldn't see shit through that helmet lol.
WORTH IT.
He did such a good job though. Made the thing from scratch. I was so proud of him! He looked awesome and deserved all the attention he was getting.

So, the first day, I took like... 0 photos. Again, just like last year, I had nowhere to put my phone, or was even able to use it really w/ my cosplay.
That's the only thing I don't like...
before I began cosplaying I was able to capture everything. Now that I'm more a part of it, I can't. Though I'm living it and actively participating in it, I still wish there was an easier way to document cons at the same time, for myself. One thing that came to mind though was using my lantern as a purse, which would be brilliant. Except... I'm broke, and that lantern is only big enough to hold a few essentials, just not my phone. But, Anime Expo isn't until July, so that gives me some time to maybe make a bigger lantern for my Poe. We'll see.

We were right at the Marriott. Fett insisted on it, lol. It was nice, he was right. The convenience was worth the extra $30 each.

Such Alvin. Very smile. Much Selfie. Wow.

He was totally BB8 and it was awesome.

WUB DEM :DDD
Brittany makes the best Tina in the world ever uuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh

We met up w/ a few people at the Hilton afterparty thingie.
Apparently there was another afterparty at some bowling alley place a few blocks away from the convention center, and on our way there we ran into Alvin. Couldn't find it forever. Finally did, went downstairs and it was empty. So we all split for the Hilton.

Bahb and Fett. the half-whites.

 | I don't know what day this is |

I appreciated Jimmy Jr.'s enthusiasm to dance.

And Tina's enthusiasm for Jimmy Jr.'s butt.

I'm wearing my hoodie, so this must've been from Sunday, day 3.

Camden again! :D

Ya, definitely Sunday. I guess I didn't take any photos on Saturday, lol.

this was pretty neat. I thought it was a cosplayer and was really impressed, but found out later it was just and SFX/make-up school thing, so... duh. explains why he looked so spot on. was neat though.

Alvin snuck in for a selfie, lol

Tina's final form.

Gone w/ the Wind stairs scene. eh oh el. :3

and loooooooot! Mostly comic stuffs.

I also went to Little Tokyo sort of recently to revisit an old lover.

Mr. Ramen.
Beef curry ramen hits all the right spots.

Oh, and like 3 weeks ago there were a bunch of cops right outside my house blocking off the ends of my street.

and helicopters.

lol, just a suspect for murder running around my neighborhood is all. lol.
SWAT team showed up later. at least they got him, lol.

Aaaaand some arts and crafts!

w/ a dead baby! a baby opossum to be exact.
My co-worker called into work on her day off while I was there. She tells me that she found a dead baby opossum in her back yard, most likely killed by the dogs, but in otherwise perfect condition and asked me if I'd like to have it. Of COURSE I said yes! and thanked her for thinking of me. She said she'd put it in a baggie and store it in a freezer until she saw me next. Which is exactly what happened, and when I got this little baby I was thrilled!

as soon as I got home I slowly defrosted her with luke warm water and washed her thoroughly.
she pooped :(

then washed her with hydrogen peroxide.

squeaky clean!

ugh she's so cute

and finally sealed in a jar.

And recently I did a shoot thingie with the other Cynthia for the next Fetish Spell event. It took all day, but was fun. She made me look neato!

Believe it or not, that's my hair, lol. She made horns out of my hair!

The theme this year is carnival. Which reminds me, I have to order something for that night =\

Now, up to pace, I've finally finished my classes for the Spring semester. I kind of really disliked the teaching method my english professor practiced, but he grew to like me so I hope he won't completely shred my final research paper. You should see what his B- corrections are... you'd think you failed the class. Super hard grader.

Anyway, now that that's finished, I'll have some free time, and drive less! Which means less money spent on gas, which means earnings! And for the summer I'll be taking 2 online classes because fuck that 4 day commute. Nooooo. I wouldn't be able to work as much, and I'm not trying to be homeless. so.
It's so weird not having anything I need to do by a certain day to turn in. Sometimes I'll catch myself worrying if there's something I need to be working on, then remember classes are over. Free time, you're so adorable.

but it's been nice. relaxing and such after work. even started making these guys again

umami has the best ketchup and aioli.

and I made this little guy for Fett.
Axel is his favorite character, but I was feeling lazy so ... he got a heartless instead. With a sea salt popsicle. Yeah... this is a product of laziness, lol.

my face is changing shape as I get older and I don't know how I feel about it. it's like... thinner, and slightly longer.

This weekend is Bats Day weekend. Holy crap, that was fast. But it's gonna be awesome.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand now I'm gonna play more Outlast. squee.

worst update ever, lol.
