Prednisone

Happy New Year! 2018 already jeez.
I still remember celebrating New Years for 2000 and being logged into AOL, waiting to talk to my goth crush "CHRISTIANCHAOS" whom I'd met in some wonky goth AOL chatroom.

I totally had an AOL hometown page. No shame. And it was a cute page, too.
 ANYWHO-
I feel like a nomad. If I'm not at my place- for maybe 2 weeks tops, I'm at boyf's house. For like a month. And then back here at my place. It's been like this for about 3 months now? Something like that. It's cool though. He always has yummy stuff to eat, lol.

LIKE THESE TARO PANCAKES ^_^

Man, my 2018 started off on not the best foot lol.
But it's really not that bad. I've been in good company, and had a nice winter break. I've never worked at a company that took off almost 2 weeks for the holidays so that was pretty amazing. And while unfortunately a visit with family wasn't possible, I was still able to share that time with loved ones so, it worked out!
And even if I didn't spend it with loved ones, it still would've worked out, because that's how I do.

Here's boyf in his back yard/garden/survival horror map

Coming out here at night is dope

And when I said he has yummy food, it's like his freezer is just an endless supply of goodness. gyoza and dumplings? DON'T MIND IF I DO TBH

We also tried this recipe from Maangchi (she's our korean mother) for pomegranate tea! He just so happened to have some pomegranates. SO we got to mashing and mixing and ...

Voila!

Very delicious, and refreshing pomegranate tea! And easy. It was lucky that we had some pomegranates just hanging out in his kitchen (endless supply) so this was a fun little thing to do. Could have it hot, or iced. Either way is good. I suggest looking it up on Maangchi's youtube channel.

Maanchi's tea recipe!

So like, the whole break was spent at Boyf's house, and when his parents came back from their vacation, we all went to dinner. This was super exciting for me, becaaaaaaauuse it was like, nice. To do something together with his fam. I see them all the time, but this was different. Especially with his mom.

We went to Sun Nong Dan-- this is our spot. This is the place I took Boyf the first time we went to have dinner-- for a particular dish that this place serves. Because that's how I do. If you've seen my IG, there's a dish I post there that has some like, fire on it. That's this place.

Galbi Jjim - braised beef ribs
Except it's not just ribs. It's got carrots, chinese green onions, potatoes, rice cake, and for an extra $4, you get the cheese treatment- a delicious, heavenly layer of chilled mozzarella cheese that gets blasted with a torch right in front of you. Another $4 and you can get extra rice cakes.

 Go big or go home. Don't skimp out unless you're okay with just losing. At what? E v e r y t h i n g.
So here are the details. This dish is kinda like.... a little pricey. Because tbh, it's a pretty intense dish. It comes out boiling still, and everything is so tender and delicious and just... perfect.
If you get the small, you're looking at around a little over $50 bucks.... with no extras. But.. who doesn't get extras lol
If you get the large, it's $60ish, almost $70. With extras you're looking at $80. We have graduated to just blowing $80 every time we come here because we need the cheese and the extra rice cakes and the large. That's just how we do.

If you ever decide to visit here and try this dish- no. Don't try, you can't try it. You can't afford to try you need to finish it lol. Be hungry before coming here. This is a dish that's meant to feed 4 people. We kill it just the two of us easy, but we're assholes. So. Idk. That's just us though. But I highly recommend coming here if you're trying to impress your homies or your hoes.

Sun Nong Dan
There's one in K-town
San Gabriel Valley
and Rowland Heights

You have my blessing. Fucking go. Right now. Get the Galbi Jjim, large, with extra rice cakes, and cheese. And experience tranquility.

The bones make excellent chopstick holders

 RESPECT YOUR FOOD. Finish it.
His family didn't touch it, and his sister and her bf had a little, but we devoured it.
But yeah, I hate wasting food. Especially meat, because something had to die for that, so if you don't think you can finish it, then just go small. But I highly, highly recommend this place.

Couldn't leave without milk tea!
This picture is special to me because it's the first one that his mom and I took together ^_^ and she was laughing when I took it.

If I have to explain it; ASIAN parents- there's resistance. They're hxc boss battles. but... His mom and I are getting closer, little by little. And it's just really really nice.

When we got home, we took eggnog shots in hard candy shot glasses

And started new alts on another server and joined a guild and spent thousands of gold to get full heirloom sets in order to power level. With dessert

I got myself a little xmas gift.

I thought reading Uzumaki, Gyo, and Tomie was enough- it wasn't. And I finished this one way too quickly. Dissection-Chan was my favorite.

Oh, Junji. You're so funny. My fascination with Ito-San's works has intrigued him enough to start reading Uzumaki. And while he doesn't tolerate horror anything very well, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that he finished the whole thing- and enjoyed it! He admitted that he had to separate his brain from relating some of the images to his own body, lol, but aside from that he wasn't too put off, haha.

HERE'S THE HIGHLIGHT OF 2018 FOR ME.

I fucked up, fam. I fucked myself up. With tendonitis lol
Doing what? Just work lol. My wrist is messed up, and my shoulder was just from bad posture when I was staying at Boyf's place. He set up a battle station for me on a lower table, and I had my arms outstretched in front of me without resting them for pretty much all of break. Sooooo my shoulder didn't like that. When it was time to go back to work, my body definitely wasn't having it.

When I went to tell my boss that I was coming in the following day with a wrist brace, she came back to tell me to go home and see a doctor, and not come back to work until I was better lol. That's a first! I actually WANT to work. Soooo the next day, bright and early, boyf and I made our way to the closest urgent care. THANKS INSURANCE :D

URGENT CARE FUN TIEM:

I got two injections on my ass. A painkiller, and an anti-inflammatory steroid. I am mortified of injections- syringes just put me off so much. The shape of them, the idea that they go into you and linger. The feeling of them, their whole function is just... god. Atrocious. I panic. I was a nervous wreck before we even got there. The shots, I felt in my heart of hearts, were inevitable. I had a feeling that that's what was gonna happen, and I was right.

Boyf was nice enough to take pictures FOR YOU GUYS of me cry laughing from the crippling pain of the afteraffects of the steroid shot. The doctor was so kind, and very friendly. She had the same problem too, and knew exactly where the problem spots were. THANKFULLY, I didn't have to get an injection into my tendon. I've had that before and it was fucking horrible. But she told me not to worry, that the injections would be applied on my glutes, aaaand that should be enough for the inflammation. So she left, and this nurse comes in. He's super friendly, tells me he gives his 9 year old injections, and he has a trick to doing it. By this point, my eyes are welling up and my heart rate went up when I saw the syringes in his hand. I automatically start laughing, presumably a trigger for some kind of defense mechanism. I look away and start making jokes back at him. He, very light-heartedly and smiling, tells me the injections won't hurt.

He didn't lie. They were just a pinch when the needle pierced skin- but when the needle continued down through layers of tissue and muscle THAT'S WHERE THE LIE DIED. The first shot didn't hurt. The second shot, the steroid shot.... he warned me, "now this is the steroid, this is gonna burn" and as he was injecting the fluid I wanted to die. It DID BURN. It SUCKED. It was like a lighter was being lit under your skin and the flames were burning just that one focused spot oh my god. And it didn't end there. There was a sucky ache that went all over my leg down into my knee, I couldn't move, everything hurt.

I began to laugh hysterically while also crying

My poor confused brain. But no lie, laughter is the best medicine.

The nurse knew. So he let me hang out in the room a couple minutes because of the pain. Until it was time to leave and get my medication. That sucked, lol. I got anti-inflammatory pills, and have to go back again tomorrow to check in.
To celebrate my actually going to a doctor and braving injections, we went to Ruby's for breakfast

Banana bread french toast is a new favorite.

It wasn't until maybe after about almost 2 hours that the ache started to go away, but the soreness at the injection site lingered, and made walking feel unpleasantly awkward. This was especially fun when we decided to go back to work. Boyf took the day off to help look after me, which I'm so glad he did because I wouldn't have been able to drive with my gimpy wrist, and after the injections, I just.. would've been fucked. But, since he took the day off, and he had a package waiting for him there, we went back to campus to pick that up. I went to go find my boss to update her on stuff, she said she was proud of me for going to the doctor lol.

We stopped by best boy on the way to the shipping office and I just had to hug him. Luv u bb.
Oh, and someone dropped off a cute Jack Skellington mug for me! But my coworker didn't know who it was!?!? So now, I'm wondering who. I think I know who it might've been, but I'm not sure. I'll find out when I go back. But isn't it cute!? That was so sweet of them- whoever it was!

 And yeah, that was yesterday.
Today, I prepared Papa Rellena with lots of help from Boyf. It's a Peruvian dish. Basically stuffed potato balls, but like, they're shaped like potatoes and there's beef and eggs and olives, and seasoning and you deep fry it and serve it with rice and a creole onion garnish.

He helped a lot, thank you hunny!

Obvserve Boyf's masterpiece. His "dumpling"
Moddafuka this is a Peruvian dish you baka. smh

So yeah, potato balls. It took forever to prepare, but they were really good. I made enough for 3 people, and my roommate liked it tooooo. Made me happy!

I could finally take my medication!

And now here we are, lol.

ALA is coming up, and I've got a new half assed cosplay I'm gonna wear for it. It suits me I think. Except for the part where sad boys wanna chop me up into little pieces. Or maybe they do, idk. qq

It's also boyf's first anime convention. I'm excited :)
Off to play more WoW!
