I've had a couple people ask me about getting pierced and I keep putting it off like a jackass, even though I really wanna do it, lol. Hopefully this will organize and clarify what steps to take before hand. ;) Can never be too safe!
T H I N G S T O K N O W
Cynthia piercing? Uh, wut? -- I apprenticed under a piercer named Mike Hayes at Checkered Past in New Cumberland, PA. He was an APP member for several years and one of the best piercers in the area. I learned a lot of piercing techniques, proper sanitation procedures, and the proper aftercare for any piercing taught by the Association of Professional Piercers.
I have limits! -- Although I'd love to be the bestest piercer ever, there are some piercings that are too advanced for me. I will openly admit to it, and rather have you see someone who's mastered them if I feel that there is no fucking way that I could do it. However, understanding this, you are more than welcome to 'guinea pig' yourself in agreement that BITCH, DIS MAH FIRST ATTEMPT HOKAY? That's how piercers learn, anyway! Hah
Have specific jewelry in mind? -- I will explain my recommendations for measurements to start with for new piercings. It matters a lot more than most people realize! Anything too heavy can sag the canal exits for unattractive, uneven healing. Anything too thin can tear tissue at the slightest tug. It's always best to go light and simple until the healing stages are well in, and your body isn't pissed at you anymore ;)
Piercings I will do -- I currently can only do 16g, 14g, 12g
+ Recommended gauges , measurements , & type of jewelry:
Eyebrow 14g | 16g 5/16 | 3/8 (Depending On Anatomy) curved bb or captive bead ring
Monroe 14g | 16g 5/16 "stud"
Labret 14g | 16g 3/8 "stud" | cbr
Snake bites 14g | 16g 3/8 "stud" | cbr
Medusa 14g | 16g 5/16 "stud" | cbr
Tongue 12g 3/4 | 7/8 (DOA) bb
Cheeks 12g | 14g 3/4 bb
Ear lobes meh meh pretty much whatever you want
Ear Cartilage 16g 5/16 bb | cbb | cbr
Nipple(s) 14g 3/8 | 5/16 (DOA & jewelry selection) bb | cbr | horseshoe bb
Navel 14g 3/8 cbb
I can do nostril piercings, however I don't have a specific tool that I need in order to perform them. Until I do, I can't do them. Sorry!
I only properly learned how to do ONE genital piercing which is the FEMALE Clitoral Hood. I will NOT do any others!!!
14 | 12 3/8 cbb | cbr
Anything that isn't listed there, I've not done. Those are the piercings we got most often, except for the cheek piercings. But that was a one time thing that I happened to be there for. If you insist I do a piercing not listed here, I will look at you and smile shyly, and remind you that I've not done it before. If you want to take that risk of embarrassment (you masochist, you), then be my guest!
cbb - Curved Barbell
cbr - Captive Bead Ring
bb - Barbell
"stud" / Labret Post
horseshoe / Circular Barbell
Alcohol is a blood thinner!!! --- so if you drank some before hand, you will bleed like an asshole all up on my gloves and shit. Please don't. :)
Also, don't faint on my floor motherfuckers. Just kidding. You can faint. Those are fun :P You lose all color to your face, it's awesome. Like, you literally look like a corpse. Photo opp! :D
Where for to get Jewelry? -- I always liked www.steelnavel.com just because they're not god awfully expensive, and you can custom order all your jewelry. Which is why I added the above chart to help with selections. Or if you want to see exactly what you want to get, I recommend going anywhere that sells Industrial Strength body jewelry. I know there's a place in LA that sells it. They're kind of nauseating, but I mean... it's LA, so... it's going to be.
I can special order standard jewelry -- if you are uncomfortable choosing pieces yourself. This will be plain, standard, stainless steel jewelry that I will have to charge for shipping and cost (I'm broke, mfkrs). A receipt will be provided for you if you want one.
Piercings O N L Y -- I currently do not have the tools to perform gauging, unfortunately. It's a little bit more complicated than it seems, and is not as quick as doing a piercing. Sorry guise! :(
One last thing!

Why? -- E x ternally threaded jewelry will tear you as it's being installed, causing more injury, more discomfort, and unnecessary irritation to the new wound that your body will already be raging at you over for the next couple of months. Even with a healed piercing, the threads on this jewelry can still tear tissue on it's way out, and can drag in foreign bacteria into your body in the process! WHAT AN ASSHOLE.
I n ternally threaded jewelry isn't an asshole at all. The installation is always smooth and easy. The threads never touch your body, and is just all around better for your new piercing when you want to switch it up a little at the right time.
*note: That cbr doesn't really belong in the Internally Threaded image, but it's an option of what you can get.
If you have any questions for me, feel free to send me a message or comment or whatever. I'll answer your questions to the best of my knowledge... of which I'm pretty cocky about.
