Long Beach Comic Expo 2014

  This con was definitely not what was expected!

It originally was meant to be for a day, but was later stretched to two days. This con was also my friend Ponies' first in both having a booth in and attending! This time around I wasn't able to help him run his booth, but he had help! And despite the crappy placement of his booth, he still made his booth back plus some change :D

This con ran Saturday and Sunday.

The night prior, Fett and I refitted him in his suit to readjust some stuff that wasn't the most comfortable before. Then he packed everything up and we spent the night here. 

As always, I procrastinate with packing and woke up an hour and half earlier to prepare, and pack.

We got there only to find that our humble little suite was further from the convention center than I thought. I suck at booking stuff. So we ended up just driving and parking there instead. 

 There were cosplayers outside. It felt so good to be back!

 This was Fett's first LBCE.

When we got inside I instinctively wanted to walk straight ahead to the booth and acquire our badges, and then go downstairs-- except there were sign holders on either side of the lobby by both stairs that read Comic Expo upstairs.
This confused the shit out of me.
So.... wait... there's more upstairs? Or... huh?? Where do I get my badge?

A staff member there told us to head upstairs for the expo. This threw me off, but okay... whatevsies! WEIRD.

We head upstairs and see a bunch of cosplayers and attendees with badges. There's a booth in the middle and some loud dude directing people to pick up their badges there. So we do.
Upstairs had the ballroom, a smaller conference room, the spaced out walkway, and bathrooms.
Where's the show floor??? O_o
We head towards the ballroom at the end of the walkway, show our badges and make our way through all the vendors, which the majority consisted of collectors vendors. It didn't take us long to make our round, as the ball room was quite small. We leave there and wonder where the rest of the convention was LOL. Turns out that was it! The smaller room a little ways down the hall was labeled as the "cosplay room" which really just had the fan club booths in them (501st, Mercs, Agents of Cosplay, big boob chicks) and where cosplayers squeezed in to mingle.

We came to the realization that the con was way smaller than we thought, and then went to pee.
A girl recognized me in the bathroom. She asked if I was at Wondercon, pointing out features she recalled. That was cool. Awkward introduction was awkward, but nice.

When I walked out of the bathroom people were already taking pictures of Fett. I'm so proud of him!

So, the first thing that came to mind once we established ourselves was... Ponies' booth. We have to go find Ponies!

His booth was in such a shitty spot that the one of the organizers personally apologized to that entire row and offered them a discounted rate for a larger booth with better placement at Long Beach Comic Con.
We visited him several times throughout the day, just to check up on him :)

Then we wandered and wandered and wandered. Took pictures, and wandered some more.
None of the booths really called out to us.

 Our new friends! And one of my favorites from that weekend. 

They recognized us walking around the next day. We stopped and chatted for a bit. Said they'd be at Ninjacon this weekend, but ... I work :(

 D'awww it's Jarod!! Was looking for him for a bit until Fett finally spotted him in the corner.
I told him he had to get in character for another picture :P

 We ran into regulars from my work turned fwiendsies! Jess and Vince. Wubbles dem. Dey so cyoot ^_^

 Fett was interviewed again! By this dude lol.

I totally forgot the youtube channel they were doing this for but... as soon as I remember I'll post it.

 Meet Art! Saw him at Wondercon with his friend. We chatted for a bit in the corner. I was taking pictures of other cosplayers when I saw him by the plant with his headpiece off, and his head and face completely drenched in sweat. The poor guy. His suit is made from latex. Zero ventilation whatsoever. I took out my fan, walked over to him and started fanning him. He really appreciated it, lol. He will also be at Ninjacon this weekend. I'm sure we'll meet again!

We ran into him later and I had to stop him and take another picture with him.

I could tell he had NO idea what to do lol. My posing took him by surprise a little bit and I could hear him gasp a little bit behind his mask when I went in and did that. It's kay. He's Pinhead, and not some weird guy I don't know. So. LET ME HAVE THIS.

 I also ran into Miss Lenore; one of the first cosplayers that really stood out to me in the cosplay group I'm in on Facebook. It was cool getting to meet her, she's really sweet and the spirit she has that she puts into her cosplays is something of an example, imo. She inspires me lots.

 SO. CUTE.

Once 6PM came around, Ponies, Kaira, Fett, and myself all headed out to our cars, change into comfy things, and headed to dinner at Sharky's across the street where the most awful jokes were said and we all laughed at them like horrible people and it felt good.

Then we went to the arcade and got our game on.

Unfortunately Kaira and Ponies had to split, but told us to stay and enjoy the rest of the credits. So we did. We ended up getting 310 tickets.

 With which we bought:

A balancin' bird and slime. Guess who got what lol

Sore feets and sleepies we walked back to the car and made our way to our humble little room.

My eyes were shot to shit from the lenses I wore all day. They're quite old for their making. I need to get a new pair. 

LONGEST DAY EVER. We were glad to just be able to sit and relax.

Weeeeee!!!

We made ourselves comfy, enjoyed things, and passed out with the tv on. 

Check out was at 10:30. No platform mary janes for me that day. Fuck. that.

Those shoes were not made for walking 7+ hours straight, lol.

We got ready and headed to the con. Of course I take the wrong exit like 5 times though. JUST FOR FUNSIES. AGAIN. LIKE LAST TIME.

 We were greeted by these dudes the next morning. They were giving away free monster drinks for people willing to have their picture taken. TOTES.

I made them pose for me :)

 Ponies was there with Jess that day. We stopped by frequently to visit. :) and maybe brought them snacks.

Represent.

This was funny, and really awkward.

The booth guy asked us if we wanted to take pictures, we were like sure yeah whatever. 

So we do, and it's supposed to take like 3 at a time or something.

On the 3rd one this random dude that barely speaks english just walks in and asks to take pictures with me. LOL he just walks right into the shot lolol. Fett's like.... lol okay... 

I didn't know what to do, all I could say was sure, and smile and be nice and pretend not I wasn't COMPLETELY UNCOMFORTABLE WITH HIM PUTTING HIS HAND ON MY WAIST AND SQUEEZING ME. 

lol sigh.

I'm glad this captured him in that 3rd frame. Ghad.

The event closed early on Sunday. And at around 4PM we started packing up everything at Ponies booth and helped him carry things down to his car. He wanted to treat us to dinner. Specifically macaroni grill. It had to be macaroni grill lol. There was one 8 miles away. So we went to macaroni grill! XD

We met him there.

Is it awful that I had no clue macaroni grill was a restaurant? I thought it was like... just some.. like diner thing with fast food kinda. IT'S A MACARONI GRILL. THAT SHIT SOUNDS CASUAL AS FUK.

It's like fucking Olive Garden in there. totally not what I expected, lol. Good though.

It was a fun weekend, despite the smallness.

I even ran into one of my favorite vendors. Which... I'm TOTALLY guilty of forgetting the name of... d'oh! But it's where I get my scrolls! 

We did buy some things on Sunday after all. It took us some strolls, but we left with some goodies.

And I got some buttons for my bag. 

Fett got a metal 3D model puzzle thing of R2-D2. He's been putting it together here. It looks complicated as shit. "One hour" my ass! hahaha

And also some Watchmen graphic novels.

You guise I am so pooped.

Fett and I also decided that we'll each be doing another cosplay that we wanna debut before the end of the year. His character I think may take a little more skill level though to finish I think... lol.

And mine.. well... mine will be kind of an "oh, duh." when you guise see it, I'm sure.

I've not reitred the Bride yet though. Just gotta fix some stuff on her gown and get some stuff for the gauze and we should be good to go. And spirit gum. Tons and tons of spirit gum! 

Tomorrow I'm going to school to get my ID and take my math assessment. HAH.

Part of me just wants to write my name on the sheet of paper and turn it in blank. There's no way I'll get into anything higher than 101 lmao. Fett let me borrow one of his math text books, which I'm super appreciative of, but want to die when I open it. Ugh.

This Sunday we go to Ink and omg Fett just put a sunglasses case down on my desk next to me and goes "here you go."

He just got here.

My sunglasses (that he got me) broke this morning before leaving his place and I totally forgot about them. I need them to drive during the day because my shitty eyes take 4 eons to adjust to sunlight. Dunno why. It's pretty goth though. 

and he totally bought me new ones with a case and they look like catwoman's goggles and omg they're tiny because I have a tiny head and they're so cute and :(

Ugh. sorry.

Ink and Iron. Sunday. Yeah... that's a thing. 

And then on Wednesday we're going to Video Games Live. fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffu.
