H a l l o w e i n e r s

  Henlo!
Golly it's been a little, huh.

Um, there's a lot. So as I would normally just dump everything in one post, this time's it's gotta get split. We'll cover October first lol

So like... October is cool because obvious, but also the inspiration artists get! And I've been lacking serious motivation with artsy stuff lately. But like, I wanna make stuff. I just.. idk. I come home and rather play games lol. But the next day I think of something and just am let down with myself over not just sitting down and devoting the rest of my day to that instead. SO ANYWAYS
This year I attempted to do the inktober challenge thingie that I always admired. But... differently. Since my preferred discipline is in clay, I challenged myself to make some miniatures instead.

The prompt for the first day was "Ring". I was so inspired! As soon as I got home from work, I spent the rest of my evening churning out this little cutie.

I also included her little skull floating in the well water.. Poor Sadako :(

But she's super cute, and creative juices were boiling over again
Then, day two was "Mindless"

I was so happy with this little guy. Wasn't too sure how he was gonna come out. Illithids have been a favorite humanoid of mine since... idk. I read Forgotten Realms books in high school and got to learn all about them and and and they're so neat. I think it came out cuuuuuute ^_^

The third day was "bait"
and as I digested more and more prompts, it became harder to come up with things that would be reasonably doable within a few hours time with clay and full paint job.

After that, it was "husky." I lost my inspiration immediately, anticipating a billion fat dogs on social media. The next day was "frozen."
I started on a chibi Jack and Rose [Titanic] on a broken door as a funny commentary, but didn't like it enough to finish painting it. So it went in the trash. In hindsight, I feel silly for not making like... an oozing popsicle with like, gore or something. I overcomplicated it and irritated myself lol

But then there was "build." And the broader and broader the prompts became, the more annoyed I got. I started on a tiny arch of skulls for the "build" prompt, but got annoyed that it could literally be anything and I could've just drawn a stupid Lego on a piece of paper and called it a day, so I kept with the tiny arch and didn't add anything else to it.

The last one I did, though I'm not happy with it, it was a fun process. The prompt was "ash."

So I quickly made a tiny urn and painted it. I tried to draw on some gold floral accents. And then, cut some of my hair, burned it to ashes in a little metal plate thing, and put the ashes in the urn lol. I can say that I have a tiny urn in my house, that I made, with my burned remains in it. It's fine. I'm fine. IT'S ART OK

And that's as far as I went with Inktober lol.

There were some other prompts that I was looking forward to, but completely forgot about T_T. But I admit, the spark of inspiration at the beginning that it gave me felt pretty good. It's disappointing how easily I let myself give up, but now I know if I really wanted to, I could dish out good teeny tiny  miniatures out in a few hours.
Unfortunately, sometimes that's all I have after work, and I'm tired and rather play games. Balance is tricky.

ALRIGHT.
OCTOBER WAS WILD.

And I have never been to a hockey game in my life. But our friend had won some tickets, and when he said Anaheim ducks, I just wanted to meet Charlie and coach Bombay.

To my disappointment, Disney no longer owns the Ducks. Therefore, I learned that ... not only was my immersion shattered, but the Anaheim Ducks like to start fights.
They won. We cheered, but it was like, kinda offputting that they kept starting fights with the other team. And people found it entertaining. And cheered. That, to me, comes off senseless and barbaric.
In spite of the win for them, digesting the constant bullying and the crowds' reaction to all the penalties and time outs and the fights.... was just... I felt myself getting dumber lol.

So we left for somewhere that would enrich us mentally.

Hooters is great

Oof. Also... my housemate let me know that Michael's was having a sale on all of their Halloween stuff. She came home with a really cute spooky town house and little figures and I lost my shit. It's one of my adulthood goals to have a full on little spooky town in my home. So... I had to go.

I also went to some other halloween places to see what stuff there was to browse. But quickly realized why I default to shopping online. But I came home with some cute little gravestones, a mausoleum, and some coffins. Also some pumpkin pie kit kats, and a cute little bat wing bowl thing.

We've added more to it since. Chicken bought stuff for our town, and it's set up in one of our book cases. AND IT'S SO CUTE. I NEED MORE

Also, note; we told ourselves we wouldn't be spending money unnecessarily in October.
We failed. Like, hard.

For some special family birthday celebration time, we hit up Kyung Bok Kung
If you're trynna impress a date with attractive, lavish meals... this place would do it.

It was like, a 7 course meal thing. With ambiance and very prim and proper servers preparing your kbbq for you.

Nothing but love for his fam.
I wish I knew about his mom's choir performance at her church, I would've totally gone to cheer for her. But they hate going LOL. Next year Imma be there screeching in the audience. Hopefully know some Taiwanese by then too.

Love for THIS fam toooooo!
We went to see Joker that night.

Even though I'm dating one, This bromance is so wholesome and and I wanna nurture it and love it and it's the best bromance ever.

There was also the Halloween event that work had. I was too lazy to dress up, so

Thank you Shannon for letting the goat eat your whole hand so that I may take these pictures

Nel and I got lost in this CRAZY maze.

 T___T so cyoo

There was also Trunk or Treat! Some peeps decked out their trunks for a contest and they all looked so awesome. I'd never heard of anything like that before,

Man... that was so fun. I also got the best glittery tattoo ever

I love where I work and the people there. It's a family. It really is

SO. We were planning a Halloween party. And pumpkins sounded like a good idea. Considering that I'd never been to a pumpkin patch ever, Chicken took us to one :)

Excited didn't even cover it. There's something extremely charming about fields with crops lol. I've seen them so much in World of Warcraft, and they're always so cute and I wanted to goooooo.
Looooook. Cute right!?  Yeah!

But we went and wooowowowoowow I was so happy lol

aaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh so cooooool!

I want my own scarecrow!!!! So cooool!

Picking pumpkins for our party was really fun T___T
And there weren't just pumpkins!

We ended up getting one big one and 5 small ones for people to carve if they wanted.

New smart light bulbs were purchased at Chicken's place for the party lol.

We had a lot of fun testing all the color options. Those LED bulbs are amazing. They're worth it.
As the day grew nearer, we all scrambled to get the last of everything together.

Never made jello shots before. Hooray play on words!

This was our prep night. We moved everything, prepared stuff, set things out, tested the lighting

And taste tested the jello shots and WOW.
We had to make another batch that was less intense. So they were color coded lol

That same night, the big pumpkin was gutted.

Decorating is so much fun!

The seeds were washed and made into yummy snacks. Cinnamon, brown sugar and vanilla extract over roasted pumpkin seeds!

Day of: Chicken thought it'd be a good idea to have dry ice. He was not wrong. And I contributed a pukey jack-o-lantern for the bathroom. So that no one would feel alone.

I donned my husbando for this event. (whos' death, I lament to inform, was a burden I was ill prepared for, emotionally.)

We were ready to go.
Our masked bartender even set up his own menu on the whiteboard behind him.

Everything he served was AMAZING.
Those two cocktails had glitter in them

I'd never had an alien brain hemorrhage before.
... wow. lol

Chicken was in the rabbit hat. He did such an amazing job of keeping everything flowing, made it seem to effortless. I'm so proud of him T_T

Pirate and Cthulhu oh my

And Sam lol

I love that coat on him. Mmpf

My coworker showed up as O'rin of the Water
the Sekiro love was abundant that night lol

Not gonna lie.
It was extremely cool to see everything come together and people enjoying it. Like, really enjoying themselves. Halloween is the best fucking thing ever

:D

Oh, so we got an extra fire extinguisher. So we had a total of four.
There was one in the garage. One in my car. One in Chicken's roommate's room, and the one under the table. Here is why

l o l
all night, it bugged me that I couldn't put a finger on where I've seen or met Sam before. Either way, he deserves his own temple of worship for his versatile face contortions.

Dry ice, fire and science
it's fine

Sup 'Lhu?

It was SO much fun. The turn out was huge. And I'm just glad everyone enjoyed themselves. Frankly, it was something that we had no idea how to budget for in advance or what to anticipate. We learned a lot from this lol. Next year, I'm hoping we can pull off another one.
The next day, I dropped my coworker off, and she gave me the pie she had prepared for the party but forgot to bring lol. It was delicious. We devoured it entirely.

Later that week, we went to pick up our Blizzcon stuff at work.

Could've gotten the Alliance Footman or this dude, Orc Grunt. Very happy with my green dude.
They say the funniest lines in WC3.

And on Halloween day, Cindy came back. But this time, she has a Twitch channel and made sure to remind everyone to tune into her stream tonight

The reactions at work were probably a type of culture shock. Almost everyone just laughed a lot. Those who didn't were just.. horrified as they stared more and came to realize it was me.
Cindy is gone now, until next year. I kinda wanna show up to Chickens' parents house in Cindy costume and see how they react.

And THEN.
Blizzcon was upon us.

Last year, we went out for shabu shabu. This year, same deal. This is how traditions grow. We were hyped and ready to go. Our shifts were waiting for us the next morning, and ... I was so happy to enjoy those moments before the con with friendos. Our feelings then were indescribable. But we were ready.

I miss October! It came and went so quickly. But now it's time to eat panetone forever.

Blizzcon will be in the next post because I'm on the last boss in Sekiro and I gotta deal with that.
Note; I killed Hatred without prosthetics or candies. Just good ol paries and dodges and my sword. and just felt like the universe needed to know that because FUCK THAT BOSS and I'm really proud ok that's it lol

:)
