Post-L

 Okay, so all my dudes in Darkest Dungeon are resting right now. I had to peel myself away to get this post started. I didn't want to. But here we are. That game is so much fun, I can't... I'm such a close-minded shithead sometimes.

It's RPG ish where you have to build your specs and upgrade your attacks/heals/whatever. A part of me likes it, but the majority of me loathes it because Cynth is not a fan of theory crafting or any mathematical building of any kind. Being the best doesn't matter, having the best build doesn't matter, cookie cutter plays suck ass. I just kinda go in and fail for all eternity, then learn as I go. But uh, failing only hurts for like one dungeon, and then you get over it and move on. So it's fine. Everything's fine.

BUT I'M HAVING FUN :D

I'm spending every last free moment of my Sunday trying to relax before my week of classes comes at me full force tomorrow. So letsssss uh. Look at these drinks.

I forget what weekend this was. I think it was right after the lawsuit came out. That'sss.... totally a metric for my timeline right now. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. But yep. We'll call it pre-L and post-L. L for Lawsuit :D

I learned that.. when they do enough whisky shots, they do this game thing where they slap each others hands as hard as they can and see who bitches out first.

As it got darker, this was such a trip. The last time we came here was for the cosplay contest.

I didn't win, BUT it was a lot of fun and the MC dude said my Doujun cosplay was beautiful after I told him I made it from scratch. Burlap! Beautiful? Made my night. :D

There was one night where we went down to see them in the middle of the week. I had to go home because of work in the morning. So Homdrey put on the funeral video with the dancing pall bearers as we started making our way out

Speaking of funeral stuff, while I avoid mentioning a lot of stuff about work, one of the cool things I get to do is drive. A lot! To different places. One of those places is sometimes downtown LA. For various reasons.

We work with hospitals, health departments in various counties, coroners, and other folks. And sometimes we go pay em a visit. I like it because the drives are nice, and it's not always the same (learning) experience.

Okay. THIS was the Post-L hang out. I remember because when everyone got together, including one of the women who was mentioned in a video on reddit (who is our friend, and who calls me mom) she told me what happened and I found one of the guys' LinkedIn, and rage tweeted. With her consent.
The guy who made that video was her former lead, and both occurrences he mentioned were hers. She hasn't worked there in a few years, but both cases had been reported to HR. The two dudes were fired. One was there a few months, the other had 4 year tenure with the company. So just goes to show... ape dick for brains come in both new hire and tenured packages. Fun, no? I was livid.

It probably cathartic for her to talk about it, so I had to keep my sense of justice kinda tethered. Bruh, it's NASTY. If someone I know got done real bad, I'll come for you LOL. I think that's why I like ghosts so much. They deserve justice and closure. ANYWAY.

HI bb if you're reading this, thank you for confiding in me. I'm glad that you didn't let those experiences discourage your outlook and strength to continue pursuing your career in games. bc if boundaries get crossed again, I will absolutely body someone without hesitation.

Disney code names will forever be a favorite. It forces you to align your deductive reasoning with your partner. My registry is I'd say very literal. Conveying things to me is way easier than most make it out to be. This is a handicap in games like Code Names lololol

Also, Smur brought this game and IT'S SO MUCH FUN. The goal is for each player to assemble 5 drink sets using the cards they're dealt, before the other players. However there are other cards that can be played to fuck up your progress. The art is really cute too

There was a moment at work where.... I was filling stuff out, and a coworker walks by and says "that looks like Disney wrote it"

There was one day where Lifa was in dire need of buddy support. So we ambushed him and took him out to eat

Then we went back to get Homdrey. Also, look at this whiskey packaging

I impulse bought another Villainous expansion and the Haunted Mansion board game. Both really fun, btw

The creepy smile was a deliberate joke that I can't say because retaliation while illegal is still very much a thing :)

Homdrey impulse bought this like... duck hunt projector game thing and Chicken was trying to help him set it up.

And then they played the new Villainous expansion. Homdrey played as Gaston.

Whose objective was to get Belle to think he's the perfect man so he can bang her.
God everything is hilarious and awful at the same time because everything is so fucking insane. The double entendres aren't my fault.

Lady Tremaine's objective was to get her daughters to the ball to bang the prince.

Haunted Mansion was fun toooooo. I love the design for the board and cards. Makes me miss visiting Disney

These evenings make my heart happy

Looking back on this, I'm seeing how fortunate I am to have these experiences. In past relationships, the level that co-dependency got to was damaging, suffocating- to the point where enjoying anything else besides being together felt threatening. For both people.

I adore the time Chicken and I spend together. I also adore that he and I can enjoy things outside each other. And to be able to share things with friends.

I never want to experience the suffocation of that past kind of co-dependency ever again.



So last weekend, Chicken wanted to drive up a mountain road and get all the pretty views. We woke up early for a head start to the day. It was so nice out!

When we got to the very top of the road, where it was closed off, this one lone tree stood there. It was like... Gondor, kind of. But not at all.

As we went up, we noticed signs for the Crystal Lake Cafe. We couldn't resist.

We stopped there for some food, and sat down outside in the dining area. There, a man named Gary noticed my Oswald the Lucky Rabbit bag and we got to talking about Disney. He shared many stories with us. Personable fellow. It was such a pleasant conversation. Just some peeps having some modest lunch in the mountains, talking about simple pleasures. Super chill. Thanks, Gary.

We decided, since we were so close, to check out Crystal Lake.

A sight for sore eyes that does nothing for them. I mean, it's breathtaking, but so sad at the same time.

This lake was once full and home to tons of marine life. Now it's.. drying up. Makes me sad. We suck.

okay LOOK. I haven't cosplayed in billions of years, and I've been wanting to try this out for a while. SO I DID A TEST RUN. AND I DON'T LOVE IT, BUT WE'RE GETTING THERE

I need to fix the sweater. It looks too washed out in photos. It's supposed to be yellow, or like a pale mustard but it looks white. And I gotta style the wig. And figure out how I wanna do the make up, cuz in this I just used my every day make up lol.

WE'LL SEE. Now I just need a scawy ghwostie to fwowwow me awound :3
