Long Beach Comic Con 2014

         Long Beach Comic Con was my very first con back in I think 2012?

Yeah, I'm a nub. One of the motivating factors of attending was to meet a favorite cosplayer of mine; Harley's Joker. I did.  

Guys... I got the most intense bitchface during that photo, omg. 

It's burned into my memory, lol. 

My friend who was with me said he totally sensed it, and tried to talk to said faced person to like... cool them off, haha. 

They weren't having it, lol...

From then on, the rest is history. Been attending cons (within my budget) ever since. They're such a nice temporary getaway from everything. I love my room, but sometimes ya wanna just... be surrounded by intimidating armored guys in masks and geek culture shit, yanno? YANNO WHAT I'M SAYIN? 

LBCC will always be special for me, so I'll attend it every year if I can.

This was wasn't anything less than adorbs. LBCC is one of the smaller cons~ and with that, they were more artist-centric. I'm not sure if that's even a thing, but it was basically one, large artist alley with a few actual like... licensed booths. 

It was myself and Fett. 

He had two costumes, I was going with just the one on Saturday. 

We saw many awesome cosplays all weekend, but were a little surprised at how slow it was to fill up on Saturday. We got there around 2ish PM (I've just come to expect that I'm doomed to 2PM arrival times at cons on the first day, no matter what.) and it wasn't very crowded at all. When the big marvel groups went outside for their shoot it was as though the entire lobby just emptied out.

More people showed up later, but I guess we just weren't expecting it to be so... not packed?

 One of the first booths we spotted was Mark's booth. 

In my last entry I said I'd grab a business card for those of you who are interested in his work. He's the dude I get my scrolls from. And you can bet your ass I got one this time around.

This is his newest piece! He said that he drew one up for me because I hadn't picked one up at Son of Monsterpalooza... and no lie, I felt fucking special as shit! haha
It's sick. I'm certain that it's Azathoth.  I didn't ask him, but... I mean, look at it. It's totally Azathoth. Right? Someone correct me if it isn't! lol

He had a good spot, too. We walked right towards his aisle and he was the first booth there. I hope he sold a shit ton of prints. They're awesome.

Saturday, if you haven't yet guessed it, we went as Leech Woman [me] and Tingle [Fett].

 We did not go together at all, lol. Not one bit! haha

A lot of people recognized Fett instantly. My character was too vintage, haha. But she got a lot of cool reactions from people, especially once I reminded them where she's featured. 

that is so weird.

BTW, that dress made me look really bulky and stumpy. It's gonna be a lot more fitted for Comikaze.

So yeah, we wandered around like two opposite weirdos that have nothing to do with each other.

 And the photo-taking commenced!

Admittedly, I didn't go as nuts this weekend as I normally do. Not sure why really, but I just didn't think about it as much?

 MAN. THAT DARTH MAUL YOU GUISE. I swear, he looks SO miserable every time we see him. He just has this neverending look of misery on his face, like he absolutely hates being there. Every. Time. LOOK AT HIM. His expression never changes, and he just comes off like someone's douchey uncle. I didn't even bother approaching him this time around. Just captured him from a distance and ran away sobbing because his discontented and impatient sigh yelled at me.

 Evidently, Plo Koon traded in his yellow saber for the Dark Side.

So during our wandering around the show floor, in the back of my mind I was thinking about how awesome it would be to run into other horror cosplayers-- like that Pinhead we saw at Long Beach Comic Expo. Or that trio of Jason, Leatherface, and Mike Myers that always show up. And maybe, JUST MAYBE... a Blade or something. How cute would that be, right? but meh. Whatever. OH LOOK,THE OUTSIDE.

A booth stopped Fett asking him if he wanted to partake in a live stream to help fund a childrens' hospital organization. He was all about it, but then realized he had to invest in equipment and a set up from home.

Totoro liked me.

We wandered and wandered. Then, while looking over some stuff at a booth, Fett goes "there's a Blade over there." I look up and go "huh?" because I half-didn't hear him clearly. And then I glance around quick and do a double take when I see that there's literally a Blade a few tables over, checking out art. YOU GUYS. MY DREAM CAME TRUE.

I haul ass over to him and squeak maniacally. He acknowledges the moment, and we pose for a photo. His girlfriend was there with him, cosplaying as Harley! She looked really cute ^_^ I wish I had calmed down enough to get a photo of her, but I was so happy to see another Puppet Master character that it totally slipped my mind, lol.

I was thrilled, lol. Nibbles was also very excited.

These two were hilarious! They were in character!!! Italian accent and everything. We interacted most with Luigi, because you know... Mario gets all the attention. Luigi tells us that he's never played a game, ever. He's also never met Peach. He then gave us mini crunch chocolate bars :)

On our way back outside, I spotted Mr. Blade again and asked him if we could get more photos.

I totally missed my chance with Lily Munster when I was Bride of Frankenstein, and damn it, that's not gonna happen again! lol

We saw a big booth that had a ton of anime stuff. They had Death Note blind boxes, and I convinced Fett into getting one with me. He was skeptical, understandably, but eventually agreed. The mystery factor is part of the fun!

He also picked up the last Death Note replica they had. It's really cool... it's got all the rules in it, and names that Light wrote in it.

We went off to a little corner by the escalators outside the show floor and sat down to open our blind boxes. We agreed that getting Ryuk or Rem would be awesome. I'd be happy with Jealous, too. They were all great. Except Misa. And there was a 'secret' silhouette shape that was the 6th one you could unbox. Who did we get!?

Fett got Ryuk! And I got Misa... but in the gurney thing all bound up like a crazy bitch! haha! She's the 6th mystery figure! We were very satisfied with our surprises :)

Afterwards, closer to 6pm we did one last round before heading off to the hotel. We were worn out and ready to change out of our costumes, but were coming back for the costume contest.

It was this evening that I realized I had left ALL my jewelry back home. lol huuuuge bummer. but oh well! We changed into some comfy clothes and made our way back to the convention center.

We spotted an Eddie Valiant there! He looked great :D, made me laugh

Funny story with this Edward. 

So like, apparently at my first LBCC there was this Batman I took a photo of, and he then asked me if he could get a picture with me. He's that Batman! He recognized me, and noted that I no longer have my purple bangs, and that he liked them. haha

It was really sweet. We took another picture again. I got one on my phone, but it's shitty and blurry =[

So we were getting food when Fett noticed a transformer walking down the street.

I can't describe to you how proud I was at that moment, and also how much I wanted to go down there and start cheering moronically. It was a pretty cool sight. He's huge.

Imagine suddenly seeing this transformer crossing the street as you're driving by. Especially as a little kid? That'd make my day.

He made it! It took him forever, lol. His strides are long and appear heavy, but looked really cool in motion.

*snort*

And on Sunday I also ran into BAHB.

OH. That necklace I totally bought last minute because I couldn't stand not wearing anything. Thankfully, it was only $10, and it was a Death Note pendant, so it passed.

It says "L" on it. Hard to tell but... it's fucking Death Note, okay? 

It was an awesome weekend! Went by waaay too quickly, but was sooo nice to get away with my Fett. 

Also, I didn't mention this before but plans changed all kinds of crazy with Halloween Horror Nights. Can't really go into detail about it... for reasons. I mentioned something to my co-worker and she got an idea, soooo... ______________________. To be continued. but I rather not discuss the 'why' with anyone, just simply because... it's no one's business. :)

Next con is Comikaze at the end of this month! It's already October... jeez. Doesn't feel like it whatsoever. I used to be excited about Halloween but all I really care about this month is Comikaze, lol. And the cheap Halloween deco stuff at the store! 

It's weird to be all caught up. I've been working on multiple things at once this last week with school and photos, writing, and then dealing with work shit. That totally got super shitty. Oh well. 

That's just how the cookie crumbles! I'm just glad we're finally starting on real anatomy next week in my medical sciences class! woohoo!!

Sleep beckons. And maybe a little bit of the Sims 2, now that I got it working again. :3
